2009 Charleston Rendezvous

Mike--yes it's Riversedge. Great ramp right next door. Lots of parking.

As things stand now my wife has worked things out regarding my daughter's graduation. So, Bob and I will get to the marina Thursday evening, and hang out at the marina Friday doing a few odd jobs and looking for all of you who launch next door to arrive. The views at the marina are nice, and the ramp drama provides lots of entertainment, making the marina itself a good spot to relax. So, Nicky or anyone come on. We'll be waitling! If somehow you don't see us, call my cell.

I would think we will get wet around 4:30 fri afternoon hopefully.

That works. There's no hurry. We'll easily get to the anchorage in plenty of time leaving around then. Chuck--we could leave later if it helps you. Heck, a slow cruise in the dark is a fun option. And, we don't have to make that particular anchorage. There are closer ones if need be. I've anchored across from the Citadel many times and it's only five miles or so from the marina.

Thanks Sadler, right now it is all up in the air. I was really expecting that deal to close on time.

Heck a slow cruise is the only way to have in the dark.

ps: Got your files, thanks. They all seem to be same, is that correct?

Yes, they're all the same, just saved in different formats for older Garmin units. If you have a newer unit, they'll probably all work. I think some of the older units will only read certain formats.

Too bad about your closing. Do you think it's just delayed?

Wow, really? Can you see the Citadel from the water? I woule love to see that. My son will start there in Aug.

Yep I was able to open them all in Mapsource. Noticed you don't have water temperature in your track files. Does your sounder/unit not capture it?

Who knows in the market. I'm hopping it is just a short delay (Dealing with an easement issue with the Forest Service so who knows how long it may take)

Hope all goes well with you'r closeing, we deal with the forret serv. daily, I think they are all afraid of the next budget cut. In the last 6mo. they have been on edge! Good luck.

The sounder/unit does take it, but water temp would mean drilling a hole in the hull for me. We don't fish, so water temp is not so important. I can get the Charleston area water temp on the boat if I really need it via my phone or laptop. If it was easy to add a temp sensor, I'd add it, but other projects have supplanted that one so far. Just your question has bumped it up a few notches on the to-do list though.

We need to start doing a fair weather dance for next weekend!!! I am thinking positive.

The in water times sound great to me. I can make it to Charleston by noon on Friday.
Sadler does your marina have visitor or transient slips?
Slow cruise, alternate anchorage, it's all good to me.
Chuck I hope you work out whatever you need to so you can make it.

Scattered thunderstorms is what I'm seeing in the forecast. If it doesn't get worse we're good. If it gets bad, maybe we discuss a rain date.

Yes, the marina has transient slips, but on Memorial Day weekend they don't take transients because the dry stack boats all come out and have priority for those wet slips for the weekend. We might be able to bootleg a couple of boats on the outside if necessary. Or, don't splash until near departure time--just hang on the marina. Or, another is to splash, get your boat all set, then anchor out from the marina and let me dinghy you into the marina to await departure. If you need a slip sometime for the weekend, the other marinas offer them, but reservations may be full by now. The ramp has a couple of floating docks to tie up to for short durations.

I'm doing everything I can.

Maybe we can help. Tell us who in the Forest Service is giving you trouble, and we'll invite him for a little Sea Ray ride out the inlet....

Just kidding ofcourse....:smt043

Good luck. Really hope you can make it.

Eewww, the weather! Crap...lets do a dance. Rain, rain go away, come again some other...time.? I know, I hate to cuss the rain after the draught we just went through. If we have to rain check it, we'll have a summer long to make up the trip!

Yea, I forgot about the memorial day thing. I like the, don't splash untill time to go thing.

Hey, how did I add my comments into Sadlers quote.

Guys and Gals, it is looking more and more like I'm not going to be able to make it. Sorry I was really looking forward to it and as they say, boy do I need a break....
