I might just leave my boat in the barn until July 4

We just got our first real sunshine since last October. 24th and 25th rain and snow down to 1000' level.26th it was mostly sunny and 63*, 27th it was sunny and 72*. And then today it's 85* and sunny. Not sure about tomorrow but sunday looks like 60's and rain again. I'll take the 60's and rain. It's the 40's and rain during the day I am tired of. But this is Oregon. We don't plan on any real sun until, at least, July 4th. This Indian Summer has been nice. Mowed the yard twice. Tilled the garden area twice. And the green house is full of plants.

They are remodeling our offices. New flooring, paint etc.
I have been banished from the office next week and told to work remotely...
It's a good thing I have good internet on the boat... :)
Don't care about the weather... being on the boat is better than being in my office...
Meet me in Zion ? I have work to do. :)

Uh, Hornman; Indian Summer is in the fall, not spring.

Mine went in last Thursday, told them to leave it in warehouse another week, bet they had a lot of people asking the same but they had to stay on schedule.

You've never met a native from Oregon have you? So, then what is it? A white man's summer? Oregon natives, at least the ones around here, all believe that cutting an inch off the bottom of a blanket and sewing it to the top, makes the blanket better. And they all like to drink the fire water, a lot. The only smoke'm to use in peace pipe is purple nug with vision powder on top.

Since i broke my wrist I decided to delay launch, so I am one of the few that is OK with the crappy weather for now. It keeps my “despair” to a minimum.
I ended up needing a plate and screws to fix the break. It doesn’t change the healing time, but it did mean I got a removeable splint rather than full cast. So I can start light physio and hopefully the bounce back will be faster. No heavy lifting for a while though.
Pic of my new stainless steel bling is attached.

He’s in Canada. It’s still winter. Summer arrives July 1, Autumn starts September 1.
He got time to heal. Besides, Stanley Cup starts soon; not a chance Creek leaving the sofa/tv anytime soon, broken wrist or not.

When we boated on Lake Ontario we would go to Toronto island a lot…. May 2 4 is Canada's long weekend a week before memorial weekend….. it snowed on the island that weekend…… those poor bastards

Broke it playing hockey. Post retirement I started playing twice a week. Was getting back into pretty decent shape for a 59 y.o. old fart. Then the guy upstairs deceived I needed a reality check I guess. Bad thing is that my wife slipped on the ice walking the dog about 2 mo ago. It got worse not better, but MRI showed nothing operable, so its just long recovery. She can’t do stairs so we rented a hospital bed and turned our dining room into a bedroom for her. Both of feeling our age these days.

But back to weather. The May 2-4 weekend is the official start of summer here, but “normally” nice weather starts in May. This year sucks for sure. So far. But the weather channel is predicting a hotter than normal summer with an El Niño or Nina or whatever it is that brings heat. Bring it on.

Been in over a week. Somewhat sunny yesterday morning, and then the fog rolled in, and then the rain. It's gotta get better, right?

Oh, and “Go Leafs”. Tampa down and now either the Bruins or Panthers after tonight. Yeah, @Pirate Lady , lots of couch time watching hockey for this old Canadian.

Back in late 70s we had a group that every year on Memorial weekend for a while we would drive north, 17 hours up 11 to Faquier where at that point the roads stop going north and only run east to west. Then take a bush plane an hour flight north of that. Middle of a godforsaken place on earth. Creek, talking, Cochrane, Kaspuskasing, awesome crazy bars there!
It frequently snowed on us. End of May. Had to go then, if waited much longer the skeeters size of pterodactyls would eat you alive. There’s a reason no sane human inhabits that portion of the planet. Even the Inuit stayed north of that place. But omg the northern pike and muskie fishin was unreal! Good times! Have i got stories!
One time, after a week in the bush, (tents, no shower, too cold) we heading back to civilization. Just wanted a hot meal that didn’t involve a can opener or a dead fish, we go into some backwoods cafe where every was in French. We stunk bad. People were pointing at us. Waitress comes up, we have no idea what she said, we just pointed at table next to us and motioned “that”. She got it. Maybe the best meal i ever ate! Dam i got stories!

Once I believe i posted about bringing guns into canada and getting snatched up and interrogated in a green room that looks like you see on cop shows. There was that time too. So much fun. OPP are way nicer than US State Troopers. Just my experience.
Edit: Lots of paper mill towns up there. Small company towns where everyone works for the paper mill. The stink is horrible. Stunk worse than us, rotten egg smell you can smell 20 miles before you get to it. I’ve seen things you wouldn’t believe.
Anyway, winter stays long this far north pilgrim.

Suck it up man. You’re not old. Now the guy in the White House, that’s old. :)

Most of those old style pulp mills are gone now. All are TMP (thermo mechanical) and not using that sulphurous stuff, so the stink is not there anymore. Northern Canadian mosquitos are the last descendants of pterodactyls. But the spring black flies are much worse. Little black devils and they are out all day. Bug spray and netted hats on spring fishing trips. By summer the flies are gone, but the mossies stay around.

Luckily we don’t get either at our cottage on Georgian Bay. A few mossies at dusk, but we don’t even need bug spray normally. So much sand that there is no standing water or bogs. Love it.

Ok. I’m the worst at spring boat prep. Sitting at the marina restaurant eating and drinking. Beats compounding and waxing.
