hi Wendy...its Dave from SRO.....I have a '90 220da....good to find you here....you may want to post in sport cruisers.

Thanks Dave,

Wendy I went ahead and moved your topic from Sport Boats to Cruisers, hopefully this will get you more help.

Howdy Dave and gang

I also have a 1990 220 DA. Right now I am in the process of completely redoing the boat cosmetically from top to bottom. Once done, I have to power the boat (no engine yet). Plans to have it in the water by March.
I fell in love with this boat on first glance.

J.P.....was just in Myrtle in April...spent many summers there as a teen...I had relatives in N. Myrtle......good luck with your restoration !

I know I can not wait to get this boat in the water. Still shopping for the best price on a 5.7L. Then have to figure out what is a reasonable price to install it.
Wendy, what did your boat come with for an engine? Mine original 4.3L, too small. Anyway, can't wait to get back home and go at it some more.
Yea,Dave, been in the MB area for about 15 years now. Have you had your boat out on the big pond or strictly lakes?
Jetpig

No ,not on the big pond.....I've had it on Lake Cumberland in Ky. ( 55,000 acres ) Ohio river , and mainly boat on a Brookville Lk. in Indiana just across the border from me ( I'm in Ohio ). We overnight quite a bit on Brookville....just find a quiet cove , throw anchor and watch a movie at night...I bought a 12v coffee maker for my morning fix !

Sounds like a perfect way to spend a weekend to me! I will probaby be running on the big pond to and from Bald Head Island quite a bit. Never had a boat on salt before. Sounds like it will be very satisfying after all this scrubbing, sanding, cutting, drilling, etc. though.

I am feeling pretty good about the condition of my boat. I can't imagine redoing the entire boat.

Do either of you have a swim platform extension. I am thinking about investing in one.

Oh--by the way we have a 250hp 350 engine (alpha drive). It is a little sluggish. When you go to power the boat--go up a step. Sometimes when we have 8 people on it--it is slow to plane.

I do not have a swim platform extension....although I've seen a few nicely done......I use my trim tabs to help with initial planing when I have a full load...works great.....Dave.

What exactly do you do with your trim tabs? (???put all the way up or down???) I use them to level the boat when I am on plane--but I haven't paid any attention to them when I am just getting going.

Wendy

put 'em both down a bit....maybe put 'em down alot ( if heavy load ).....this will keep the bow down till you plane then you can adjust the tabs back up as needed and adjust your outdrive trim to the "sweet" spot.

Hi All

New here, looks great.

Just about to buy a 91 220 DA Sundancer. I intend to use it for coastal cruising here on the East coast of Ireland.

A bit nervous about handling at sea - any advice or observations. Fazer100 - I was thinking that your sea conditions would be similar to mine; please tell me it's a doddle on the high seas ...

Thanks in advance

Did everyone get stuck under the winter tarp

Does anyone have a windlass on their 220? If so, can you take some pis inside the anchor locker?

Thanks...

I believe it is the 6 inches of snow that just came down in Iowa and the -5 degree weather that has put me back in the mood to go boating.

Anyway--Quint--I was reading on another sea ray website that your prop was getting the best speed of all the ones on that site. You said you had a stanless stell prop.

I am planning on replacing mine in the spring. Do you have more details on your prop so I don't end up purchasing several before I am happy.

Thanks,
Wendy

wendy , the prop was on the boat when I bought it....I will give it a good look soon and if it is marked will post what info I can...it snowed here today ( ohio )...come on summer !
