Hammond is your best bet for diesel on the south end of the lake

I've seen folks take all day to get from Hammond to Heritage Harbor...it's really all dependent on barge traffic.

Not sure you will find 50 amp at the Joliet wall, Heritage Harbor at Ottawa Ill is a good stop with fuel, dockage, 50 amp no problem, but a long shot from Grand Haven for sure. Once you enter the rivers you are at the mercy of the Tows, locks and bridges. Hammond marina is a good stop with historically great fuel prices but, a stretch to get past Joliet in a day
Correct, there is only 30A on the Joliet wall. Harborside isn’t that far past the Brandon Road lock and shows 50A service according to the “Waterway Guide”. Check out their website for more info.

What speed do you think we’ll be running from the entrance of Calumet at Lake Michigan to Brandon Lock?
How long do you think it will take?

Hammond is on the lake, before you enter the river, just south of the opening of the calumet river.

I also suggest you call Hammond Bay marina, or any marina you plan to stop at for fuel, to insure they are open. Many marinas are not open 7 days a week until after Memorial Day. Regarding speed, there will be areas you can go faster but will find that the lock masters really control your destination speed. I have friends who have taken this route from the great lakes to Florida and have found they pass the slower boats on the way to the lock and wait at the lock for the slower boat since commercial traffic has priority in the locks

I did indeed spot a beauty of a Sea Ray in Grand Haven yesterday.
