Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Ordered it from defender. Has the flange on one end and hose fitting for 1” hose on the other.

This was the part that came off so I think I’m gonna call them today and order one. Where did u get the ambassador one and did it look similar?

I probably ordered it online - that was a long time ago. When I replace mine I did the entire basket and the 90 degree turn. If that is all that is broken then I would just get the turn and replace it.

The one in the picture looks like the drain I had in the cockpit sink of my 260DA.

This is also on my long term to-do list because my gallery drain basket is corroded and discolored - for the time being it is hidden below a drain screen so out of sight.

Yea min isn’t the best looking either but with everything else I need to work on that’s way at the bottom of the list
 
just changed out the iac muffler sponge thing. i cant seem to find where the iac valve is mounted? if its the original will it be painted black?

If you're referring to the 8.1s Mercruiser, on my 2003 editions the IAC is located on the opposite side from the serpentine belt. Small silver metal object with a couple of bolts holding it on. Nothing hard or magical about replacing it. A 5 min job.

Unless you have digital controls. Then the IAC is built into the throttle body itself.
 
I've exhausted my search and also reached out to Mercruiser with no help. There is no published info for COOLANT PRESSURE. I've got my Port reading 5psi and my Stb reading 35psi after coming up to temp and running at 1200 rpm. Can someone help me by checking theirs and letting me know what you're getting? This seems to be the only spec that is differing between the two engines.

Maybe you should check the actual pressure on both engines with a gauge.

Even if I knew that they were correct in the system by doing a manual check, it still wouldn't tell me what it is supposed to be. So I figure, law of averages by going with other peoples readings will tell me if something is out of whack and which one.
 
Does anyone know where the Digital Sounder Module is located on the 2003 340 SDA? I'm getting an intermittent "sonar not available" message and i'm hopping my problem is the hsb2 connection at the DSM250... but i can't locate it.

Think about it......35psi would be blowing out gaskets......i ran 2-3psi at idle and 8 or so at 2800 rpm.....the senders are notoriously bad IIRC its a late 90s chevy pick up oil pressure sender repurposed by mercruiser.

What engines and setup do you have?
Also, here is an update after a good run yesterday....After getting up to speed and settling in around 3600 rpm, the pressure on both stayed around 35-37 psi. Back to trolling around 1500 rpm or less and the port will drop to or below 5 while the strbd stays around 35. Temps on both engines stayed below around 165-167. Of note, the port circulating pump was replaced last year. So I, can we assume the port is acting 'normal' and the strbd staying high at idle needs replacing?
 
Another issue....gotta love boating.....has anyone had to replace the wiper motors on their 340? Specifically, 2003-2008 models.

checked today... nothing there. i tried to follow the hsb2 cable from the display, it appears to pass thru the helm "circuit breaker" access panel under the steering wheel and disappears down and to the starboard. In the installation section in the manual that came with the boat it states not "intended for bilge area" or something like that, but who knows...

I would guess that it is attached to the hub that is with the strbd engine. On mine, twin 8.1s inboard, my paddle wheel / sea temp has it's connections there. Worth a look....
