Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Newbie here....can someone tell me what the lower right retangular icon with the arrows pointing in is for? I lights up but I cannot figure out what it is for or doing. Thanks.

I can’t find your codes on the list. Are you sure the screen is correct? Based on the guide for not starting it could be a few things but reset the gen first. Then check your battery. Then check the F2 fuse and lastly maybe gas?

As dumb as this sounds double check your battery connections. It could be loose. Don’t ask me how I know this.

I’m not sure the screen is correct, I don’t know what those codes are there not on the fault list. I pulled the fuses out and they’re all white so I can see if anything is up with them. It feeds off gas from the port and starboard tanks right? those are full.

On my boat I had this issue so I reset the gen, waited a little while and it started up. Always make sure you aren’t loading the gen until AFTER it starts. You should have on Batt that is dedicated to starting the gen. You can swap batteries and see if that starts the gen. Process of elimination really.

Assuming one of the 2 batteries next to the generator operates the generator those 2 batteries are new as of last week.

Is the big blue thick line going to the battery the generator?

Without seeing it on my boat I’m not sure. Was the gen working before the batt install? Generic Sea Ray wiring diagram indicates the blue goes to the Gen.

Nothing. Water system heater, if I remember correctly. An option I believe.
I have a water heater but 'believe' it to be 'bad'...nothing confirmed yet. So does this switch actually turn the power on to the water heater itself? I have a breaker and it's on, so is this an actual on/off sort of switch for the heat?

You have a water heater switch on your AC panel. That’s how you heat your water. The panel is something different. Unless you are up north you will rarely use it since the heat of the engine room will sufficiently heat that water. Northern folks experience will differ.

Thanks. So what I'm hearing is that it does nothing since the switch is on in the AC panel and that is what turns on the water heater. And since I'm down just north of Fort Myers, I really don't need to worry about it.

I’m on the east coast and the heat of the engine compartment sufficiently heats the water for us. Give it a shot though and see what you think. Now if you are on the hook and haven’t run the engines in a while the water may need to be heated.

Yes it was working until Tuesday night, I was running it a bit. I think I may have been running it with the engines on for a bit accidentally..

You can run it with the engines on. That’s perfectly fine. It’s not one or the other.

On a 340 it runs from the starboard engine only so on long trips you must incorporate that into your fuel computations.

The button is the icon for the fresh water pump - however on the 340SDA that is not used it is controlled by the one on the DC Panel. These are somewhat generic keypads across different models so in our case here it is an extra.

Ok I may switch batteries too as part of the troubleshooting, though both are new..

For more help you may want to start a separate thread as this is not specific to the 340SDA as it sounds like a generator issue. You may loose some eyes keeping it here. If you do start a new thread I would summarize what you have already done.
