importmonkey....what is that fitting below the rub rail, directly in-line with the spot light?

Toby did you put the Fortress FX11 on bow? The specs say it’s only 7 lbs.

No. Sorry. Didn't mean to confuse anyone. I was going to use the FX11 as a stern anchor, but my dock neighbor gave me a big ass anchor. So I used the big ass one on the bow and I'm using the old bow anchor at the stern.

I never got the Fortress. I've heard they make excellent stern anchors, and I might still end up getting one for the stern due to their portability and light weight. Not sure how many times I'm gonna enjoy deploying the old Delta and 20ft of 5/16" chain in the dink.

It's the thru hull for the anchor locker door drain. I put pieces of tubing in all the thru hulls to cut down on the "skid marks".

I get down to the boat Saturday and someone says "hey, what happened to your anchor"? I said nothing I know about. I have only used boat twice and anchored once, in sand soil. It was not like this the week before. There is no visible indication of anything being hit in the bow section. Weird.

How did you resolve the issue? Can I adjust the roller, or do I need a different anchor??

The Kodiak was just a cheap piece of crap and it kept bending in adverse anchoring conditions. After trying to replace it with a higher quality one I had the same outcome as you are dealing with, wouldn't deploy. Stuck with the Kodiak, had to rebend that thing at least a half dozen times over the 6 years I owned that boat.

Mitch - Mine is a Kodiak. And I am beginning to think that the tabs were bent when I got the boat a month ago. Being new to me I had no idea that wasn't the standard design and when I retrieved anchor last Saturday it may have bent the arm, although I don't know what would have caused that. I retrieved it quite easily and slow. Regardless, I think I will just replace with a better quality one now that it is off. Thanks for the good info.

I wouldn't worry about the tabs. Straighten the shank, get some good chrome paint (you'd be surprised how well it will hold up. Mine always lasted about 2 years and we anchored out almost every weekend) give it two or three coats and go boating.
Don't think I ever told you congrats on the new boat she is beautiful.

I agree get the anchor back in shape, pretty it up if that's important, and use it. But.....the tabs(?) should be corrected also. These anchors are always trying to set deeper when there's tension on the rode. With those tabs bent up like they are the anchor is being prevented from burying itself properly and the holding power is reduced.

Is there any downside to mounting TV in cockpit here on a 420DA? I have a hardtop. Rather put it here.

Great idea. What diameter is the tubing? 5200 to glue it in?

I can't remember the size. Best just to measure them. There's only two sizes between all dozen or so thru hills. I bought about 1ft of one size and 2-3ft of the other. Cut down to 3in or so and "glue" in with 4200 or life caulk. I'm not to crazy about how the 4200 is starting to turn yellow, but it works.

I have mine in that spot. I like it cause it's out of the way and is visible from the dock. It is not, however visible from the helm seat or the forward u-seat section (like it would be if mounted above the galley sink). We dont use it much, so having it tucked away works for us better.

Thats where they are on my 38 from the factory. You can see it in my sig pic. I had a white cover that slips over the top of it to protect it when I get too excited with the hose.

Thanks. Will do.

Does this instruction straight from the manual on how to start your Diesel generator confuse any one as much as it does me?

The Preheat / Start is same button. Depress Start until engine starts. when engine starts, release Start but continue to hold Preheat for 2 to 3 seconds. HUH? What am I missing?????

YES!

I hold Preheat for 30 seconds, then press and hold Run for 5 seconds after the gen set starts and the green light comes on.

To stop, I press and hold Stop for 5 seconds after the gen set stops running.

Also, I run the genny for 5-10 minutes AFTER removing all loads. The way I see it...this allows the genny to cool down, as the only way the coils can cool is if the motor is running.

On another topic - refrigeration. There were some posts about this a few weeks ago on this thread, but I also found another refrigeration thread and posted my work there. Short story - refrigerator worked on 120v but not on 12v. After a couple tries, I fixed it. Hope this helps someone out there.
