So...
Every time I put power to the boat the actuator for the windshield vent opens the glass. Most time it can be closed but occasionally it gets stuck open and a little coaxing is required to get it to close.

Motor problem? Is there some solenoid outside of the motor I’m missing? Should I just replace the motor?

I have read on here that people lube the shaft and that helps, maybe spray with lithium grease?

But what makes the motor go to full open each time you put power to the boat?

Sorry misread your post, there should be a momentary button marked wibshield vent on your dash that controls it, most be sticking

On my boat you have you have the vent open/close buttons. Would you have to replace the entire starboard switch panel or is there a way to replace the solenoids(if there is one/two) on the back of the panel. Is there a solenoid contained within the motor?

This issue has persisted for a few weeks. At first we thought someone had opened the vent then realized it was operating on its own. The first time we were able to force it closed with a gentle(loving) tap of a hammer. The next few times we were able to use the vent close button. Recently, I just disconnected the motor to keep it closed.

Thanks Chris. The boat is currently hauled out for bottom paint so in a few days I should be able to play with it again.

Seems like you may have the cheapest fix if everything else is working properly. The control pad would be worth 350-450 to make my boat work properly, imo.

But the next step, the 2600 would be disturbing, but in the long run, I would do it to make it work right.

Good luck with this, hoping for the best

I cant have a boat with broken stuff. My OCD would get the best of me. Ill probably order the part and go from there.

LOL, that’s where I would be too. I bought new carpet for the salon and cockpit and sold the boat in less than a year. Gotta be right

Does anyone know if there is an additional relay between the Windshield Vent motor and the Starboard Switch panel? Before I spend $442 I’d like to narrow down my options.

Granted this is just the generic electrical diagram from my 340DA manual but it indicates there may be more to the contact switch then just the panel unless its inside the panel. Any thoughts?

just purchased both pads. paid $340 each from sea ray dealer in michigan they can drop ship for around 30$ I would call around 442 is ebay price it seems....

Did it fix the issue? Was your issue similar to mine?
Dont have them yet there sitting at my cousins father laws house in the states I'm in canada so was way cheaper for me to ship to states. Just have to find some time to go pick them up. But will let you know. My port side works for the most part unless I start messing with the starboard pad light start flashing going haywire and things just magically come on sometimes the horn will just stay honking unless I cycle power

I emailed the eBay folks selling the panel and they said there was an additional module between the panel and the motor that could have gone bad. That module, for the record, is not on the wiring diagram. I also called my local Sea Ray dealer and asked them to confirm. Nothing yet on that end.

I’m trying to avoid throwing parts at the issue without knowing for certain.

Did you have the motor or the module looked at?

Yes! They worked no more switch problems, for now...

Just reach underneath the access panel were the starboard EIM is then some patients and some scratches on the arms from badly cut tie wraps wasent to bad and just snug don't want to crank the nuts down. Crack anything I replaced the nut with nylocks so they won't fall out.
