Who Has Owned The Most Of The 50 Worst Cars Of All Time

My first car was a 1974 Pinto, is that close enough? Also totaled it by rolling it over a few times, walked away without a scratch so I guess it wasn't such a bad car.

My first car was a Pontiac Astre (Otherwise known as a Chevy Chevette) while I was a student. Had it for less than 2 weeks when the engine began to stumble. Took it to the local shop and waited like an expectant father to hear that my baby was going to be just fine… NOPE. "Hope your looking for another engine" was the response. There was a score in the 2nd cylinder, oil was finding its way into the combustion chamber and fouling the plug - aluminum blocks without sleeves wasn't a good idea after all. Who knew? He said they were disposable engines and mine was done - Great 1st car…
Couldn't drive more than 25miles without pulling over, replacing #2 spark plug and topping up the oil. Got rid of it and got a motorcycle.

No Plymouth Crickets listed? I had a 1972 I purchased new while stationed in Germany and it was a total POS.

None for me on that list. Dad did have a Corvair company car back in the 60's. Only car we had that would start on those cold Chicago mornings.

1975 Chevy Vega. I had 40 hp VW beetles that were faster.

The only thing in my defense is that it was given to me by my parents when I was in grad school.

At least you didn't get rear ended and blow up!

Not on the list but we bought new a 1986 dodge vista with a Mitsubishi engine. 40k and it went on fire my first day of a new job .installed a new engine and sold it before I even drove it again. Guess that's why they only lasted a few years.
ps ,didn't realize how ugly it was till I just googled it.

I bought a new 1981 Pontiac T-1000(Chevette). The rear coil springs on it kept breaking, changed them 4 times in a couple years...also had engine problem. It was a disappointment for sure.

"Ford had the Excursion, a Mount Rushmore-sized SUV based on the company's Super Duty truck platform."

I had also heard it referred to as the Ford Extinction

I didn't own any of those cars... but I had a 1972 Chevy Vega GT with a 5 speed transmission and a 2bbl carb. Ran great! Didn't burn any oil. Now the engineer that decided that they would eliminate the inside fender covers allowing the road spray to hit the bottom of the fenders and allowing them to rust out should be strung up. I did have a hood hinge rust out and I used extra 550 cord from a parachute to tie it closed. (The hinges were on the front of the car so that made it interesting.) Blew the clutch and sold it to a gear head who put a 327 in it...

I also owned a 1974 Mercury Comet with a 302 V8 in it. To change the spark plugs on one side of the engine you had to remove the bolts on the motor mounts and jack up the engine.....

With out question the worst car ever 1980 Chevy Citation! If you owned one you know what I am saying. But there are only a very few of these junks sold. The worst thing is I didn't buy it, my girl friend at the time purchased it while I was out of town then 6 mos laters blamd it on me because I if I had married her already she would not have bought a car without my approval:smt021

In 1975-1976 Chey made a limited addition Cosworth Vega 260hp, my friend had one, they were really fast.

Cosworth Vega's were very rare (they cost twice as much as the regular Vega and only $600 less than a new Corvette). Mine was the 110hp version that claimed 0-60 in 12.5 seconds and a top speed of 112mph - but it was ALL MINE… wow

My Excursion has 485,000 miles on the original engine and transmission. It would also get 15 mpg towing my 15,600 lb boat. An amazing vehicle.

We still own a 2003 expedition eddie bauer for hauling boat stuff 110,000 mi and the truck never gave us grief ! Gotta love the big american muscle 12 mpg hurts a bit though
Side note. Wasnt the stereo in the citation mounted vertical? Made it impossible to install a an aftermarket radio!!!

yes, it was vertical and a very sorry radio that might have well been left out !

I think studerbaker had a vertical radio also, that should have told them something!

When you have a budget you have to do what's best for you at the time. Sure I had some of them. My first was the Gremlin. It was 3 speed fire engine red. I was on a volunteer ambulance corps so I had green flashing lights on it. Really cool!. Then I had the Yugo. It was a cheap car that ran. We then move on to the Pontiac Aztek. Had so many electrical problems we had to get rid of it. Thinking back all three cars were red!

Geez... had the Pinto, and Chevette also had a Vega - how the heck did the Vega not make the list. They were $100 cars though... what do kids do these days since they can't buy a $100 car? Helped me to learn mechanical skills keeping them running - I use those skills on the boat now :)
