I have searched the forums and cannot find a thread like this. Please copy it here if there is one. Before I spends days price shopping I'd like to hear who has what. GEICO gave me what feels like a fair quote, checking to see if there is better. Progressive will not insure the boat.

This is GEICOs coverage:

  • Hull and Equipment - Amount of Insurance and Agreed Value $118,500
  • Towing and Assistance - Each Incident $3,000
  • Boating Liability (Protection and Indemnity) - Liability Limit Each $300,000 Occurrence, Bodily Injury and Property Damage
  • Medical Payments - Limit Per Person Each Occurrence $1,000
  • Fuel and Other Spill Liability - Limit Each Occurrence $997,100
  • Uninsured Boater - Limit Each Occurrence $300,000
  • Boat Storage Contract Included
  • Ice and Freeze Coverage Included
  • Medical Payment Supplement Included
  • Repair Guarantee Included

Thanks

I have Geico thru boatus with similar terms. Only issue I had was this year they lowered my agreed value, which was still at my purchase price some 15 years ago. No big deal, but. Never had a claim, so don't know how they are.

Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River. Geico's quote with $1,600 a year.
So when we were there our NBOA policy said we weren’t insured into coastal ocean….when we did go we paid a small fee with an itinerary which was based on duration. We are still with them today they have been very good to us.

My one quote came back at $5600. More than double what I was expecting. Will be getting more quotes next week.

Covered for the Great Lakes on a $60k valuation for $580/yr (Citizens). Ditched the tow option, planning to go with BoatUs, unless someone waves me off. $500k liability & underinsured; $250 deductible.

That was what the quote was for, that I got from them in December. With an assessed value of $12k. The one I got a year ago in December was for $498 with a value of $28k. My father called his agent and they are $10 a year for the 19' runabout and $600 a year for the 300DA. The coverage is the same as with geico but the figures are all higher.

I’ve got Agreed Value $120K with similar coverage minus the towing, insured from Maine to Virginia with Travelers for about $1.700. They’ve been easy to deal with and paid a claim we had quickly.

I just got my renewal letter from Travelers for the 506 at a $270,000 agreed value with a $5600 deductible. The premium stayed what it was last year at $2200.

What is your deductible?

Let's see here...Fremont Insurance

Agreed value $93000
Deductible $880
Aux Equipment (my Walker Bay dinghy) $15,000
Liability $1,000,000

Annual Cost $1250 (it was $950 +/- before I added the dinghy)

Get a quote from a dedicated MARINE insurer, you want a yacht policy.

The broker I use, Charter Lakes out of Michigan, has taken good care of me over the years.
+1 on Charter Lakes, I’m insured with Chubb.

Be careful with this one. I have a feeling you still need to be winterized between certain months for this coverage to cover anything.

Travelers Insurance for me with Mechanical Breakdown Coverage.

Insured value at $28,000
Cost $580/yr.

After all the work these last few years I need to raise the insured value a bit.

Only one claim so far for $12,000 and although it did take a little bit of time for it to be resolved it was taken care of in my favor as I hoped.
