Hey guys, looking to buy a trailer for my 05’ sundancer 280. What do I look for that’ll be good?

I can't tell you which to buy or not buy, but pick one where your 280's weight is in the midrange of the trailer's load capacity. If the 280 is too light for the trailer and doesn't settle the springs down a bit, the ride will be harsh and not help your boat. If the 280 is too heavy for the trailer it will compress the springs too much and they won't be able to cushion the ride adequately.

I bought a Loadmaster based in Port Clinton Ohio. I couldn't be happier, it's a very well built trailer.
I was pulling it last weekend, and had stopped at a store. A guy came over and was admiring how nicely the weight was distributed.
He used to be a long haul trucker.

Okay perfect that makes sense! Thank you so much!

Port Clinton is just an hour away! I’m glad you mentioned Loadmaster, so I’ll definitely be taking a look at those!

Great advise…

If you want a great trailer, and I prefer an aluminum with galvanized supports, also look at Magic Tilt. They make great trailers intended for the salt environment.

Check out EZ loader as well, has been under my 96 250 for six years. just another brand to look into. IMHO great trailer.

Just cannot see that buying a steel trailer provides any long term value. The aluminum trailers can have any part replaced and no risk of internal corrosion that cannot be seen. MagigTilt was still providing OEM parts on my 20+ yo trailer when I sold the outfit.

I was also relieved to sell and not to use the shorelandr steel trailer on my old SR. It was scaring me what I could not see. There are a good number of pics of broken steel trailers corroded inside out…

Your gonna need a triple with 6k axles and prefer torsion to springs with removable spindles. I had a nice one for my 280 but can't remember all the specs
