You picked the wrong boat.........not the wrong engines.

Another dig at me !! . :smt021Find a gas boat that's been neglected... maybe one that's been run WOT throttle all the time, stored on blocks in the winter and pressure washed every weekend.
Putting it in layman's terms...
Diesel = dating a Victoria's Secret model
Gas = farm animal
The farm animal is cheaper... so I'm told.

Is this the Toyota thread? Starting to read like it or is it starting to read more and more like an Obama thread. :smt043:smt043:smt043
Innuendo and not actual facts and comments about a persons possible available resources commented on, but just more blather like the media today espouses. :smt013
Hey I know just get the gov-mint to give everyone a free boat.
But you know from my perspective not everyone has the same pocket book as some and they try to get into boating with what they can afford, whether it be gas or diesel. :huh:
I know I would not mind moving to a diesel boat one day, but current finances prohibit that...Of course I am from a different generation, which was raised learning something about personal responsibility and fiscal reality. :wow:
:smt100I know maybe I can stand at a slip somewhere holding a sign which states will work for a boat, or one which states hey I need a TARP :smt013 bailout so I can buy a boat.
So if you have read this far how about we not turn this into another gas versus diesel bashing thread?
Thanks :thumbsup:

Not sure this analogy is quite accurate. Most of us, including you, wouldn't last a New York minute with a Victoria Secret Model but with a farm animal it could be years. So isn't one of the primary advantages of a diesel over a gasser is it lasts longer before needing an overhaul??:smt043
I don’t know Bob, did you see the pictures of that “mistress” of John Edwards…. Damn!
Hi Guys,
snip
I have not completely given up on the diesel powered Carver, but I have some time to decide and I want to use this time wisely.
Thanks guys,
Tim
Lots of rhetoric, hmmm?
You're in Tampa. You have 3 kinds of boating to do.
1. Run to a restaurant or the local sandbar
2. Make a trip to Venice or even Cabbage for a weekend to a week
3. Go to the Bahamas for a month or two.
Figure out which one you'll do more of, and that will answer your question.
Friends go to the Bahamas for a few months every year. they run diesel battle wagons. No bay trips, and rarely leave the slip for less than a week at a time.
I do 1 mostly, and 2 occasionally. Gas is fine. If you're going to offshore fish, get a different boat.
My humble 2 cents after being on these waters for 50 years.
