Staying at the Residence Inn near the airport on the way back from the Dominican Republic. Where should we go for dinner? Cold here BTW! Still in shorts for goodness sakes...

Don't really know New Jersey (especially the Newark area) all that well, but I've been to Hoboken, and there are a lot of nice restaurants there. Should be a fairly quick Uber ride away. Download the Yelp app. That should give you some good info.

I heard there's a really good Macdonald's there, just make sure to wear your pants hanging down gangsta style so as to obey the dress code.

Yo, yo... Ended up at Ruby Tuesday since it was close. Mmmmmm, fine dining! Warm temp and cold beer so good enough for me!

Too late for this trip but Newark has a pretty cool Portugese / Brazilian district called Ironbound. Quick ride from Uber and safe to walk once you're there. Plenty of good, non-chain options.

In the seventies and eighties the company I worked for had its Newark container and chassis storage and repair depot off of Delancy. Every time I visited, the GM would take me to one of the restaurants in the Ironbound district. One that sticks out In my memory, and I see from the link above is still in operation, was Tony de Caneca. It is a Portuguese place with excellent food. Since it is still there, the food is probably still first rate.
