When do you put your boat up for the season?

Never winterize - just change from shorts and t-shirts to jeans and jackets. The fishing is way too good in the winter to put the boat up!

We fire up the Audi TT Roadster and switch over to top down color touring in the middle of October. It's a relief to have the boat washed, waxed and inside before the gales of November. It's about time to stack wood as well.

They are taking her up to storage today - maybe tomorrow with the storms here. Its football season for us and its 475 miles one way to Columbus, so no time on weekends to boat and still work five days.

Thats what I'm talkin about!! The inshore bite is getting really good now, offshore should be coming around very soon. Flatties are really hitting carolina rigs now in our area, up to 10 lbs+.

We have been out in Jan. on the hook with lines out. It might be cold but the kids love the fishing and we get to clean the bottom by running it. The one thing that does suck is the wind. Its typically a constant, stiff cold blow Nov-April.

NC is about as far south as I'd like to live. We still get the changes of seasons, but no real heavy winter stuff. It seems that once you cross the Va. line, thats where the boats get laid up for winter and I just don't think I could handle that. I'm happy with flying a tin can to do my snow skiing (where they actually have real skiing  ) and snow mobiling.

NEVER!

Right now, my boating club is planning our New Year's weekend trip to Ft Lauderdale. Anyone care to join us?????

Count me in.

Last year was the first year i had the boat and my last cruise was on halloween. My first cruise this season was the day before St. patties day. there is a neighboring lake thats about 12 feet at its deepest point so it thaw's out quickly. Add being laid off and bored into the combo and we had a good afternoon.

Im still looking to get a few more nice days out of the boat before i winterize and shrink wrap. On a more positive note im already pumped up for ice fishing. I think this year is a good year for a shanty heater and a power auger.

September 21, still in mourning... :smt089

I can boat all year, but Jan/Feb I will throw some pink antifreeze into the system for those few nights we dip down to high 20s overnight. But Ive put the antifreeze in, then gone out and used it a few days later, and I got out every month last year, I just may wear jeans and a hoodie when I go out.

I had the marina pull mine this week. I haven't been feeling well lately. I'm still having a little after affects from the bug bomb ordeal. :smt021.

I doing ok Thanks :smt001. Its the memory loss at times and the headaches. Like i said before that can of bug bomb at $5.95 has cost me over $5.000 dollars so far. :smt021.

Water is high here in Iowa and will be 60 degrees this weekend. It's such a crap shoot every year. I remember 2 or 3 years ago a 70 degree day on Thanksgiving.

I'm thinking about storing in a heated building for a month between Oct. 15 and Nov. 15 next year. Seems like we potentially miss another 2-3 weekends because of the "cold scare".

My marina "closed" on October 31st. That being said, my boat is still in the water and I will be out on it tonight. I spoke with the owner yesterday, and he said "no problem". They'll be moving boats around for a couple more weeks so the mechanics can winterize and shrink wrap.

God, I love that place. I don't ever plan on leaving there. What a great bunch of people, both the owners, and the other boaters.

Of course, on day one, I told that that I was a royal PITA.
