What's wrong with this website?

maybe you guys could take a class at your local university OR ask your 10 year old grandson or granddaughter

Had no issues here with any of those on iPad, iPhone or windows with Mozilla. Now I HAVE had issues just in general since the apple 8 updates but that's another matter.

I took a couple of minutes and took "a class at your local university OR ask your 10 year old grandson or granddaughter"

The following photos are from IE11 and from Chrome. So, it appears that the website has a problem with IE11. Can one of the mods report this to Cap'n Jim's web hosting guy?

Internet Explorer 11

Well, that explains why I get the slow/missing keystrokes on one laptop but not another. Both are Windows; the one running IE 8.x does just fine most of the time, but the one running IE 11 gets jacked up pretty frequently. Guess I should load Chrome!

I've experienced the same keystroke buffer issues. As suggested earlier in this thread, I just changed my settings. I see a noticeable difference using IE 11.

Interesting situation. This site runs vB 4.1.12. I operate a vB-powered site for the company that owns vB and have not seen this issue before. But, then, the site I operate runs vB 3.8.7 AC1r5.

Try changing the settings for your your "Message Editor Interface". In the upper right of the site, click "settings". Then on the left of the screen that appears click "general settings". Then scroll down to "miscellaneous options". You'll see that there are three levels of edtor... Basic, Standard, and WYSIWUG. Try backing down one level or to basic mode. Dont forget to "save changes" at the bottom right if you make a change. You can always change back if that doesnt fix it.

Trying these setting suggested. Will keep testing to see if it makes a difference. So far it seems to help with typing, but not with uploading pictures

I don't think we'll ever be able to stay on top of every single issue with every single browser.

I could migrate the site over to a hosted version of VB where they are constantly updating it and making changes. But then we'll have a whole new site and interface to deal with. The tribe usually doesn't like big changes like that!!!

Change????? did that once, never again :)

Change is good when it works.

The world is moving to hosted software and this forum will be no different it is just a matter of when. Responsive design (the site recognizes what device, op sys, and browser to configure itself to provide optimum performance) is the new way of the world and likely would be a big upgrade over this version that they either have stopped supporting or will in the future.

The "tribe" definitely would not like to make a change but we will have to sometime...

We might just have a pop-up or something that suggests that Chrome is a better browser for the site than the latest versions of IE.

In my experience the typing problem does not happen all the time. In fact, right now there is no issue and the spell check is working fine. Why would the problem be intermittent?

Just changed mine to basic. Seems to be working better. I have re-posted so many times that I started use MS Word first them copy to the text box.

I was having soooo much trouble I almost gave up on this place but have dropped down a notch from enhanced to basic and it is just fine except no tool bar.
