This picture is on a boat manfacturer's web site. http://www.pioneerboats.com/html/197_venture.html
Check out the dog on the bow while they are underway. :wow:

First off the boat is a bow rider from what I can tell on their site. So that dog is probably siting on a canvas cover. And the windshield is closed too!!

Yes I agree that the dog shouldn't be on the bow during motion, but that's not what is wrong wit this picture...........I think the tree's in the Middle of the Lake are the biggest Issue in this picture.....Hit those and that's going to hurt......

I do not see the dog’s legs.

Its possible this is a open bow boat, no cover over the bow and the dogs hind legs are on the cushion.

As to allowing a dog on a cushion, to each their own. I have a neighbor that puts their dog on equal grounds with their kids, including love, attention and care. Not what I would do however if its their boat, their dog, and not illegal its their decision.

I agree with doug on this one. It looks like to me that the dog is on the seat cushion. If you keep your dogs nails trimmed they probably wouldn't cause that much damage to the seats.

With regard to the tree in the middle of a lake. It happens all the time around here. when the lake levels rise above normal summer pool you often get points that are normally out of the water now slightly below water level. This either looks like a bend in the creek or where a creek enters another part of the lake. See the number marker just above the windshield. What suprises me is that the water is a normal color. when that happens around here the lakes are normally muddy.

yeah I think he's on the cushion too, + if the cover's not on he can comeback under the windshield. No different than dogs in the back of trucks to me. No big deal, except, If it were a picture of our boat, the dog on the boat would be what's wrong with this picture.
I have four kids to keep alive, I don't need a dog.

I know many of you love your dogs so I'm not slamming you by any means, I'm glad they make you and your families happy, they're just not for me.

Pretty flat waters. Looks like the only boat on the lake. That breed, Weimaraner, is highly intelligent. Not likely to jump off a moving boat. If she did, she's got webbed feet. They probably have the bow door open under the windshield. Definitely not in the leagues of riding on the highway with the dog in the bed of a pick-up.

I have a Weim puppy and an older beagle... neither like the swimming pool, so have not decided if we are taking them out on the boat yet... I agree with not having to worry about another life...

dog hater!!!!

I let my dog ride on the bow when we are idling. She loves it. She sleeps on a seat when under way and the moment I throttle back to idle, up she goes and waits for me to open the window to the bow. She also loves to watch the anchor feed out, no idea why.

I think you guys are right.

When I first saw the picture it looked to me like this was a small dog and it was sitting on his butt on the mooring cover. But after a second look, I agree the dogs hind end is inside the bow.

That's what you get when you post something so early in the morning. Next time I need to have my eyes wide open and look twice.:smt043:smt043

I think we need to control the dog's life to ensure, no matter how miserable the creature's existence, the dog survives the maximum number of days on the planet. It's our duty as intelligent animals.

My dog lives on the bow while underway, must be all the fresh air. She loves it.

I don't think that dog is suffering :)

That was an attempt at sarcastic humour. I was implying that in order to protect that dog from danger, we shouldn't allow him to ride on the bow and have fun.
