What's the fastest you have ever gone on the water?

75mph in a 16' with a 150hp merc, back in the 70's.

115 on Island Pond in northern Vermont in February. It was frozen and I was on a Polaris. Does this count?
If we are going to count ICE in the equation, 165mph on a 650cc Ski-Doo running on nitrous. Sucker would run a 1/4 mile down the track before the skis came back down in contact with the ice.

51 MPH(GPS) in my current boat!...............well that was going down river, with a fairly good current. It was fun to to be the first boat to the no wake zone, coming out of a damn with a bunch of go-fast boats! I kind of had to giggle, when my little 175 with a 4.3 out ran a v8 Baja, and a couple others.

The fastest boat I own is my Skeeter ZX-185c. It will run 62 on the GPS, which isn't particularly fast for a bass boat. I've driven a boat 78 as indicated on the speedo, but that was 25 years ago before GPS so there's no telling how accurate that was. It was fast enough to push the tears out of my eyes (and I wasn't crying....I was about to wet myself.... but I wasn't crying). This particular boat had been radared in the high 80's, but I wasn't man enough to go there. My best friend just bought a Cobalt 302 with twin 496 Mags. He said he's hit 75, but I haven't ridden in it yet. That's pretty fast for a bowrider.

I knew a brawny ole landscaping guy with a boat named Layin Sod. The boat brand escapes me....it had a 200 hp Suzuki ob with a jack plate. He took me for my first and last ride with him....at 83 mph the boat started tail walking....that's close to going airborne....he deflated a lot of Baja ego's around here....with an outboard!

Lazy Daze no .... snow is not a problem. Probably if it was a "powder" situation with wind, but then you would'nt be going that fast. Sold it because too many people (friends) get hurt on them. In northern Vermont and Canada it is a way of life to cruise for hundreds or even thousands of miles in a winter. Really cool but the high speed thing was a small part of it. Ric

80 MPH on a Jet Ski, confirmed via GPS (never believe the speedo on those things)
90MPH in a 2008 Cigarette Top Gun (also confirmed via GPS)

60 mph in a 19' open bow "Classic 190" with a 5.0/Alpha - many times (1989 - 1993)
70 mph yesterday on a friend's Sea Doo (and day before - both with wife hanging on tight - most weekends, as a matter of fact). On smooth water, it's pretty effortless. Speed is relative.
40 mph + in 340DA (That's too fast too).

BTW, in my opinion, a boat that is chine walking is on the hairy edge of being out of control.

That's what would happen with my 19' open bow ski boat. We bought it in Lubbock, Tx, 2 weeks prior to moving to San Antonio. They were built in Austin, but they wouldn't put a V-8 in it unless you were in Mountainous Terrain (Lubbock - 3353'). After running it wide open with my wife a baby in the center of the bench seat, I learned why. Thank God they weren't sitting near the rail - I probably would have lost them (Sabre Dance).

108 mph 25 Cougar MTR with worked Merc 2.5's..(in 1996) Stuffed and tossed out at 90 mph as a passenger..Kill switch and life jackets are your best friend...Now 20 kts is fast enough..sometimes too fast.. ;-)

That's scary!

89mph on my brothers 21' Gambler bass boat. Caught some air and asked to be brought back to the dock, that was the last time on a "fishing boat".

2.5 from the East German judge.

96 MPH in a 28' Pantera in the narrow part of the C&D canal. My buddy and me were in the rear bolsters along with some girl who couldn't keep her shirt from flying up!

I've had a Checkmate, Avanti and a Velocity that all ran 65-70, when my wife was in her teens she was given her brother's old 18' Lazer with 2.5 Merc that would do over 100. She took it into the mid 80's a few times.

about 55 mph on my 185, chining, on flat water, with no wind.
70 on ice with our old early '70's snowmachine. My neighbor had a 650 skidoo with nitrous that he often hit 100 in, but he was crazy driving that thing, and ended up blowing the engine. I wouldn't even think of riding with him, even back as a teen.
