What's the fastest you have ever gone on the water?

On water:
36 MPH 2006 320 SeaRay (in the ocean in 1-2 foot seas)
59 MPH on Kawasaki 1100 jet ski
78 MPH on a 25 foot Checkmate, single 502 with Bravo drive.

On land:
118 MPH 2003 BMW K1200LT (motorcycle)
135 MPH 1985 Honda 750 Sabre (motorcycle)
145 MPH 1970 SS Camaro, 427 with a tunnel ram. (car)
168 MPH Kawasaki ZX11 (motorcycle)

60 mph in a 19' open bow "Classic 190" with a 5.0/Alpha - many times (1989 - 1993)
70 mph yesterday on a friend's Sea Doo (and day before - both with wife hanging on tight - most weekends, as a matter of fact). On smooth water, it's pretty effortless. Speed is relative.
40 mph + in 340DA (That's too fast too).

John....what's the fastest you've gone on your 'other' ship....in the air?

63 MPH in my 1969 Weimann Custom Jet Boat.
Feels alot faster when you are about a foot off the water.

My 210 Select averages about 51 right now. I am sure to see 55 after learning it more.

It's been a long time but on a few various boats I have been in the 90 -100 range, one of them was back in the 80's in Fort Lauderdale Florida and it had 3 or 4 (can't remember) Lamborghini V12's attached to surface drives, it supposedly could due 112 MPH, I had it up to just shy of 100 and I couldn’t go any faster because my eyeballs were bouncing to much! This was a 45 ft. boat in the ocean with a 1-2 foot chop. It sure did draw allot of attention pulling up to Shooter’s with it!

Aside from the boat the fastest I have flown was Mach .8++ in a Falcon 50, Unfortunately there is no sensation of speed at high altitude... It's more exciting flying at 200 MPH
1000 AGL (over water).

I have about 12 - 15 flights above Mach 2.2 - I flew functional check flights out of Pusan, S Korea in the late 90's. First time check flights (after major maintenance) generally only had enough gas to get in the high 1.X's (1.7 was the min to pass). If you only had to check one or two systems on a flight (instead of the normal 100 or so), you'd have enough gas to get above Mach 2.0. My normal profile was a full AB take off to the North, spin around W and S while climbing, shutting down engines, restarting... then East around the S tip of Korea, then to 40,000, full AB, level flight to Mach 2.X heading North toward N Korea, out over the water.

I had to pull it out of AB with 4,000# of fuel (took off with about 12,500#) because the engines would not come out of mil power (full power w/o AB) until below Mach 1.4. I would do a mil power imelmann (sp?) (vertical climb over onto back) and then roll out about 20,000 feet higher than I started. This would leave me at about mach 1.2, 210 Knots indicated, black sky above, idle power, and I would coast down south 150 miles or so at idle while still supersonic. This would leave me with about 2,000# with which to maneuver for landing. It always left me with a smile and earaches all night.

+1,000,000 - OK, you win

BTW - Thanks!

30.8 mph in this tub.
70mph in a friends '87 Pachanga II back in ~1990.

Hello...
Im a lurker, but couldn’t pass up this post.

I had many boats; however the one that will live forever would be the 21' Liberator tunnel with a 300 Pro max.
SDBA clocked a cool 75 qt mile and 105 MPH top end "all day long"
96 with 4 passengers and a cooler of beer. (I don’t drink and drive)

Now with the 340 and a boat full of children, Im the guy drooling as the 50+ MPH boats
pass by.

Life has been good to me ... some times I remember catching air and coming down sticking a fork ... I wonder how I ever made it out alive.

Never again

Welcome Lurker!

About 130 mph on a pickle fork drag boat with a blown engine. It was a tremendous experience where at one point I thought I was going to die when the boat started oscillating. Its amazing how much the boat vibrates and how the water feels like chunks of concrete banging against the hull. My convertible at 150 MPH was not nearly as thrilling.

Nope, it wasn't a Sea Ray. My 185 Sport is a granny boat by comparison. :)

Those Lamborghini's ended up in creates sitting in WI. just south of Greenbay. I saw them in the early 90's.They were truly awesome to look at. $25,000 would put one in your boat. I beleive they were 750hp. Used for one race from Bimini to Atlantic City or New York, I beleive. I was there buying a 454 Merc. for a rebuild I was involved in. Sitting there on the floor were other 454's. Mine was 350hp, you wanted 500hp no problem, you wanted 700hp no problem they were already built, sitting there and ready to slide in to your boat.

Right now the fastest I have ever gone is a little less than 50 mph. :smt015 How about you............anyone been over 100mph......150 mph..........200 mph?:wow::wow:

About 2.5 minutes  :smt043

Ohhhh.... you mean MPH??

Before I got the Sea Ray, I had a 42' Fountain. I had twin 510CID naturally aspirated motors built. We de-tuned it so they would last and produce 650Hp and 660 #ft torque on the dyno each. I regular ran on Lake Texoma around 90mph. I have riden with friends in twin supercharged 1,000hp cats that we drove to well over 135mph.
High performance is a lot of fun and very different from driving my Sea Ray. I drive a Mustang GT for my speed thrills now instead of a boat.

Well so far we haven't come across any drag racers in this post so I'll post this video just to show an over 200 mph run on water. Check out the first run on this video. Andy Reynolds used to be the service manager at our dealership.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjASIpMCIZo

I've asked Andy to give me a ride in his boat but unfortunately it's a single seater so he wouldn't do it. :smt043

Andy has been known to take his boat back into the coves on our lake to test it out.:wow:

76 mph on a supercharged Sea Doo. I could barley hold on....freaky

GPS speed or speedo speed?

I had a highly modified Yamaha GP1200 that hit 72 mph gps... scary fun.

85 on my buddy's twin 502 Baja

55 (on gauge) on my 220 Select! (I still have to GPS it to find out the 'true' speed thou)
