I am looking at purchasing a Sea Ray 185 with the 190hp V6. I have been looking at anything that is 2005 onwards. Is there any significant difference between say a 2005 and a 2006 model? It would be great if someone could chime in and note the differences in the year models.
What year Sea Ray 185 should I purchase?

The only difference from my 08 to an 09 was they added a cushion in the front of the bow. I beleive it was the only change in the last few years. I would go mpi though. True turnkey boating.
The boat model changed in 06. The current model is the same model as the 06.

I had a 2007 185 Sport which I loved. Although it only had the 130 HP engine, it had sufficient power for my needs. I traded it for a new 24 Sundeck with the 300HP DTS engine and truthfully, my 185 Sport seemed just as quick. However, the 300HP motor SOUNDS a hack of a lot nicer!

For a used boat, I think price and condition mean more than any particular model change. They are all nice boats, but if the owner let the mildew bloom and neglected maintenance, even a 2-year-old boat can be a poor investment.

I have a 2004 and like it, personal preference, I do not like the new design, your best bet is to get in both boats and see which one fits you best. The 04 has an anchor locker in the bow, the 06 and later does not, the 06 has a larger swim platform, the 06 and 07 was lighter, the 08 and 09 has the weight back. Is one better than the other, probably not, check both and see which one you like best and also check for the care that was taken by the P O.

I've got a 2004 as well, prefer the layout of the older (pre 2006 model) but I guess thats a personal thing. Mine has the twin back to back sunlounger optional seats which suits my usage. :thumbsup:
Roger was yours a US or internal model? Do you know where is was made?

Its got a US HIN number so I'm guessing it was from the states but what factory not a clue....
Thanks for all the posts. The boat I am looking at has under 50hrs. It is clean and tidy. I think I will go with the 2006 onwards. I like the the new hull design (something I was not aware of prior to this thread).

I just bought a 2006 185 this last summer. I really enjoy the larger swim platform and my wife really likes the bench seat in the back. Like Midway said it's all up to personal preference. Good luck on your search.
