Was wondering what the general concensus is when it comes to what counts as below crusing speed?

At what speed/rpm to most of you turn off your bilge blowers?

Thanks

Cruising speed to me is anything over planing out :)

We usually run up and down the lake at around 30 mph or so depending on the conditions...

I turn my blower off whenever I actually remember to :smt009

Blower goes off above 1500rpm.
Cruise 3500+-rpm = 30+-Mph.
Buring around 10GPH
Giving a 150+- Mile Range.

I'm almost the same.
On our two week trip I cruised at 3500RPM, 25.7 knts=30MPH and 8.5 Gallons/HR
In My sig is my engine size info.

I also turn the blower off if I remember.

Me too!! I thought I was the only one :smt009 "the shame"

I also turn it off when I remember. That may be half way to the sound or when I come off plane to drop anchor and hear it still running. :smt009 What can I say. At least it was on when I started.

We usually "cruise" around at 40mph. If we are taking the sites in, going just fast enough to be on plane (22-25mph), and if we're on our way to our favorite spot, 50mph.

On the jet ski its WOT all the time. ;)

I turn the blower off whenever I remember to.

Pretty much everyone I know forgets. I'll admit mine is on almost all day until I actually stop the boat. I leave it on all of the time during wakeboarding since we cut the engines when changing riders, and we are going in the 16-20 mph range while actually riding anyway.

Im sure the blower will need replacing every 2 years or so for me!:smt021

I typically cruise about 3100-3200 RPMs which when trimmed out gives me about 26-28mph depending on water conditions. I just leave my blower on when the engines are running - it's a cheap part even if it goes every couple of years. With my twins I just feel better about them getting fresh air - might just be me.... If it dies I will most likely upgrade to something which is designed to run continuous.

3,500 cruise the blower only gets turned off when the boat is off. I feel like replacing the motor for the blower is cheap insurance.

I should have bought a trawler. My average speed is about 6 knots except when I am trying to get somewhere fast like to beat a storm.

Why leave the blowers on ? I thought they were to just remove fumes before starting,or while fueling ??

It is also suggested that you run them below cruising speed as the vents designed to keep the engine area clear of fuel vapor do not operate that well at low speed. Some people like to run them all the time.

It is definitely to remove fumes prior to starting the engines. It is also recommended to run it when running at slower speeds such as when not on plane. In the area where I boat I typically start and stop quite a bit due to other boats, conditions, etc so I just leave mine on. I feel it helps keep fresh air going to the engines.

oh well - Kurt beat me to it....

what they said plus what I meant by cheap insurance was forgetting to turn them back on.
