The trailer is nice but I don't thinks adds a lot to the price but I could be wrong. I think an offer of $28,000 is more than reasonable.

NADDA might give you a decent starting point if you haven't used it yet.

I noticed last year in the late fall a lot of really good boat deals in MN because they didn't want winterize it if you are not in a rush.

Kings Cove doesn't have any Sea Rays for sale

My gut says less than $30k. It doesn't mention a generator so I would guess it doesn't have one plus the 5.7 might be adequate power but a 496 would be better. Chap's are decent boats but I ranked them under Sea Ray and Four Winns.

I would agree. Your boat is newer than this, and is a Sea Ray. The options are not great on the Chaparel.

It is definately a buyer's market in the used boat market. Be patient, there are great deals and great boats out there!

I'll check it out and if it is mint and I like it, I will low-ball him. I don't need to buy right now. Never know, the guy might be desperate. It was for sale last fall, then taken off the market in the winter and put back up for sale in May. I'll start at $25K.

Edit: Check that...I just did a nationwide search on these boats and they range in price from low 20's to low 30's. $25K would be my ceiling, and that is assuming it is in mint condition and we like it. If it's not, I won't even bother making an offer. Like I said, I am in no hurry. This would have to be a perfect boat with a desperate seller.

If you look at the picture of the head, you'll see it has a port-o-potty with the pump out hoses. Keep this in mind. Yeah you won't have the Vacu-Flush maintenance but that little holding tank on the port-o-potty may get old heading to a pump out frequently.

Certainly not a deal breaker but a negotiation factor for you. Some of the Chaparral's are pretty nice, but you know you want a real 260DA anyway.

I haven't looked at it yet, but assuming it's in "perfect condition" as the ad states. What would you offer? I was thinking $30K.

This boat is right near my marina, I may stop by and check it out later today.

Opinions? I know it's not a Sea Ray, try to go easy on me.

I have a good friend who a 28' Chaparel with twin 350's new canvas, swim platform, hydrolift, and trailer. It is a 2835 SS 1999 with 200 hours in fresh water (Huntsville, Al) for 30 K... The boat is very fast...

Good point. I have a Porta-Pottie with a pump out right now and I capped the pump out (not the vent) since I refuse to pay full pump out price for a tiny porta-pottie tank. So, we only use it for peeing in and I empty it manually. This alone might be a deal breaker. Strike one!

Chapparal makes a great boat. Not better then a Searay but certainly better then a four winns. 5.7 is a little under powered. I would not offer more then 21k for that boat. The market is really low right now and u can find a lot of boat for a little money. 30k....way too much

For example, a good friend of mine just picked up a 2002 320DA with twin ( I think 5.7's possible 5.0) bravo III's 176hrs on both motors. Boat is immaculate! Trailer included for 46k. The boat was local and slipped here for the summers pulled for the winter months and serviced by well known mechanic every season. Nada has same boat for nearly 95k. But been for sale forever at 85 and kept dropping till buddy bought it. No one is spending a lot on boats. They are only worth what the buyer will pay

I can't believe you have to pay to pump out! In our state they don't want people dumping overboard so all pump outs are free at marinas. The only ones that you pay for are really the tips you give the little "Fecal Freak" tug (at a local resort) that comes to your slip and pumps you out.

When I bought my 2000-260 which was 2 years old - I had an opportunity to buy a leftover 2000-260 Chap - brand new with warranty for the same price as the used 260 - which in 2002 - was 50k. The Chap was not near as nice as the Sea Ray - plus the windows make the Chap look older than it is.

True, but I like that look better, plus they are bigger.

That said, I am not even going to go out of my way to go look at it today. I MAY take a peek at it tomorrow on my way to the marina if I have time.

pretty sure my next boat will be a 260 or a 280 DA. But I gotta shop, right?

What are you going to do with your Sea Ray if you buy this boat?Betting you can sell it quickly in this market is pretty risky.
