I'm in the process of putting a new canvas on my new boat. The current sunbrella is burgundy. I was thinking about going with a lighter more updated color. I'm just not certain what would look good with the boat?

I'm doing a new navy top and full camper. Any thoughts or pictures?

That is pretty dark. I have always been a fan of light colored canvas- it keeps the interior cooler. Also, are you planning to convert your top to a bimini with some sort of Isenglass enclosure? I have seen that done and it looks great and enhances visibility while standing with the top up. I beleive that there is a thread on it some where on the board.

I know you want a lighhter color, but black would look the best with the color acents of your boat. Navy blue (or Sunbrella Captain Navy) would clash with the burgundy strips you have. The Darker colors are nice when it is cooler out, and the dark contrast against the white would look great...

I went with a cream colour. It was original brown.

I went from burgundy, like yours, to black…but as long as you have burgundy accents is difficult to find another colour to match… probably the same grey you should have on your vynils

I had to read this over a few times before it sank in. A navy top is a front canvas that snaps to the windshield. I'm not planning on a navy blue top!

I'm not doing the bimini style because I was to keep my frame original to use my old canvas in the off season.

not the best pix to show color but all i have handy. if you look a the side you can see, not the snow on the top.

its a sunbrella silver. it lasts much better than white and doesn't yellow like white. (white doesn't do well in the sun and starts looking nasty after a couple of seasons) its great for hotter climates and a lot cooler than the navy blue that came with our boat.
i now have replaced the bimini's with it and have a gray screen enclosure to match but no pix

cant get my pix to copy and paste. will try later

I changed the dashboard on my 30 w/e'r from brown to black. The stripes on the hull from brown to black and added an off white canvas top. Made the boat much more up to date looking. Your could paint the insert on the arch to match the gel coat. Current boat has white sunbrella canvas. It it is much cooler than dark canvas.

toast even looks good with my soon to be replaced blue stripes.Of course im colorblind and dont care.

Boy this took me a long time to figure out you were just saying that your top attaches to the windshield... I still think black would look the best... Peter, from Italy used Black on his 390, and you know the Italians are trend setters... Long Island is not Florida, and the heat should not be that big of a problem...

Yes, but I got rid of any burgundy aboard

I've seen it with black and it just doesn't look right with the burgundy in the cockpit and thats not changing.

I've been thinking maybe a goldish?

:huh:I'm confused - why the burgandy conversation - when signature picture shows green?
Maybe I've had too many beers.....

Too many beers...never. It's a new boat so I just changed my signature pic.

I like the red canvas you have..... why change

I'm not sure to be honest. I sort of have these ideas that lighter is a little more updated. But I guess sticking with burgundy is safe. I'm not planning on doing canvas again on this boat.

keep what you have.... Change your next boat's canvas... By then Burgundy will be the "In" color... Who knows maybe that bright Green from the early 90's will come back... Late '90s the Tan was "In"... Now Black is "In"... I think Navy Blue is always in, but not necessay the "In" color... I would have gone with Black on my 340 but I had blue accents, so I went with Navy Blue... I went from tan to black on my Sun Deck...

Ultimately I would have love to have a lets say 96-98 330 with black and gold but...I moved into this boat from my father who owned it for 9 years so its paid for and I know exactly what I have.

It's night and day from my 268 which was a nice boat.

Blue and White are my favorite traditional colors. Your 340 is a beauty! Those boats look great with Blue canvas.

The thing is I need the camper even though I'm not a huge fan the wifa and kids want the outdoor room in the evening b/c of the bugs.
