Good Day All,

Purchased a '97 240 Sundeck about 16 months ago. Boat is stored 2 hours away. Was wanting to rebuild carb but not sure what kit to get for my 5.7 liter with Thunderbolt V ignition. Only one carb available for this boat or do I have to trek over to get numbers off carb somewhere?
Thanks for any help.

Yes, The carb number is as electricaldoctor stated. There are numerous kits available for any given carb. If it has a Quadrajet carb and it is running fine then leave it alone. Quadrajets can be a pain to rebuild as there are multiple settings for the carb. Good luck if it's your first time.

Yes! Bill is correct, and I'm with him. Why are you thinking of a rebuild?

Conditions making me think rebuild:
I get hesitation when throttle up to pop up a skier.
Motor dies as I shift from reverse to forward when pulling out of dock (after sufficiently warmed up)
Motor also dies when shift from forward to reverse when docking. Must then stop a coasting 24 foot boat with my hands along dock so we don't smack into end of slip.

I have rebuilt simple waverunner carbs but never a "real" one. I have an old Porsche mechanic that can help me should I get in a bind.

I rebuilt both my Rochesters QuadraJets last winter, I grabbed the book and kits from Phil's High Performance and they work great now. It wasn't all that difficult.

Two barrel carb, no tag
only numbers stamped in as follows:
807312
6903
Looks like a mercarb, mine has a zip tie on upper linkage, yikes
guess I'll get a reman'd for $300 vs kit with brass float for $60
the zip tie makes me uncomfortable

If you replace the plastic float with the brass then make sure you use the correct measuring points for its position. They will be different. Good call to go with reman carb.
