I am trying to buy a 32" flatscreen DVD Combo. I was told that Audiovox is the best brand and will stand up to the abuse and electrical variations of the boat. The only ones I have found are very large. He also told me that other brands will burn out in a couple of weeks. Has anybody had a TV burn out and if so what brand. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I installed a samsung hd 3 years ago and it sill works fine 110v only. We use it alot on anchor outs. i also installed a dvd player and had no problems with it either. I put a LG on the arch of my friends 33sd and it is still working fine after 3 years.

Sounds like you were talking to an Audiovox salesman. Through the years, I have found that Audiovox is deserving of their reputation. Look it up online, it's not that great. For quality, Samsung or Sony are the 2 best made HDTVs out tere. Pioneer Elite series is close.

36" Vizio here....with seperate DVD player.....used to be.....on the combo's if one quit...so did the other.....TV is a year old with no problems at all.....had to get a bit creative on mounting .....but....it works well....underway, I swing it up against the ceiling in the aft cabin....

Geeeez....... You guys, I've got a 450 Sundancer and I've only got a 26" on my aft deck. Some how I'm feeling a little inadequate.......:smt100:smt100

I want to see pics of that installation!

Sharp Aquos will give you the most bang for your buck. A little pricey but it's the $hiznit.

If you have not looked at the new LED lit LCD's, do so. They are lighter, thinner, use less power, last longer, etc. I don't think you'll find any with a built-in DVD player though, since the major selling point for them right now is "thin", and a DVD player sorta kills that, but they'll sort that out too I suspect.

I'm not sure I have a brand preference anymore. There are only a few that actually make the panels themselves. I have Sony, LG, NEC, Toshiba, etc around the house. I just purchased the Haier 19" LED for the boat. I normally wouldn't go that brand route (lack of experience - not any bad experiences), but it had the features I wanted for the price I was willing to pay (19" LED is just coming out from the larger players, and is priced as such). I was pleasantly suprised.
