What boat projects are you planning for the off season?

I'm thinking that besides the normal maintenance items, I'd like to accomplish:

Cockpit TV install
New cover made for the bow sunpad
New cockpit speakers and amp + add a sub
LED light conversion

We'll see how much time and money I have to accomplish the tasks. All are fairly inexpensive in Boat Bucks, but time might be the big limiter.

I'm sealing and varnishing the wood all over the boat. Plus rebuilding the cabin door. Some of my lady friends can't help but to slam it shut.
That's it for now went trough the battery syndrome earlier this year. It' a boat, always something to fix-replace

Mike, Weather is getting nice out 80's W/a nice breeze.

We've just added a bow thruster and LED lights in the cabin (LED's were on the Cockpit) and what a difference they both made! Would like a Cockpit TV next if we can find the time to install it:)

While we don't have an off season in FL (actually, it's the summer... too darn hot!), it's time for Manifolds and Risers! $$$$$$ :-(

well,
after having an expensive broken down summer.... I have done so much PM before the season and my starboard motor blew intakemanifold so had to redo heads and other crap... runs perfect now. winter is gonna be pull the motors, replace both engine couplers and also have to address leak from transom assembly or port motor... ugh

Wasn't planning on this until this past Friday, but found that my oil pan had been patched in the past and has started leaking again big time. Plan to clean well, repatch to finish this season, and then pull motor and replace this winter. Along with as much PM as I can get done and afford during the pull.

Hey Brenda, post some pics of those LED lights, if you have them...

Ohhhhh, I like that idea! TV in the cockpit!!!! Darn it, ya’ll are giving me more ideas than I can afford!!!!

Nothing for me on the 400EC since it sat up on the hard from Mid June to the end of August and I spent enough on her that I can't afford to buy any beer. So all the things I thought I was going to do, remove the carpet, install another TV, redo some of the bolsters and SeaDek the cockpit area are now on hold for a year.
So the 270SD, once my shoulder is healed I plan to rip out the carpet, headliner, fix the windows and remove the outdrives and redo them (pulling them now).
So hopefully come next summer I will have two boats in the water and selling both.
Oh yeah - And my contract here with the Government is over with on Sep 29th.

That's the trouble with reading these posts:) I have the same issue LOL

Had a lot of preventative maintenance done last off-season...full tune-ups (w/ plugs, caps & rotors, wiring, belts, IACs), thermostats, fuel filters, impellers, bellows, vacuflush filter and recovery valve, so maybe something a little more fun this year.

A few things on the to-do /wish-list:
- add a raw water washdown, possibly with a diverter to provide the option to flush the toilet with raw water
- complete the conversion to LED lighting...just the cockpit left to do
- tune the props (ok, not really fun!)
- maybe a new VHF radio
- considering a new chartplotter, but low on the list

Plan to pull the port engine head and replace gasket. While we're in there might as well pull both after coolers and service them.
Also plan to add some floscans and then detail the engine room. If there is room in the budget, possible switch over to dripless shaft seals. Tired of the constant drip and adjusting necessary!
Then I'll try to figure a way to explain to the wife why there is no money for Xmas! Yikes.

Take the after coolers to Panky's in Hayward if you can. They are the best but make sure you tell them what color you want them painted when they are done!

Thanks Ken, I'll check them out.

Let's see, finish some trim for the hardwood floor, hinge the floor hatches, new stereo head unit (Bluetooth), new speakers in the arch (ordered twice, out of stock twice), hopefully new vinyl for the cockpit, all of the things the Admiral wants but has not requested yet, etc. the hard part is we boat pretty much all year but we are expecting a wet winter. I wish for it since we rally need the water and snow pack plus it takes away my excuses for boating instead of working on the boat.

Took a few pics. But we still have one to swap out (the large one on the stbd. side is really tight so we're still wrestling with it.) They are so much brighter and cooler to touch. We need another three for the berth reading lights too: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411270856.494088.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1411270869.945318.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1411270887.395843.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1411270910.197552.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1411270922.984481.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1411270948.049268.jpg
