Newbie question: How does water get into the bilge? is it normal or should I be concerned that something is leaking? Opened the engine compartment yesterday for the first time this spring and there is about 1/2 inch of water in the bilge. Should I be concerned? Its still under warranty, so if this is not normal what should I ask the dealer to check out?

No, the water is not under warranty. there is nothing wrong with it.

Awww.... That's bad... True, but bad.

Steve, if you just opened her up for the first time this spring you need to give us more info. Was the boat wrapped? Was it on land or in the water? Who winterized it?

I'd start by figuring out if it is fresh water or sea (river) water. Was the fresh water tank emptied or filled with antifreeze? Did anyone wash it before you opened up the hatch? If you paid the marina to commission it, is it possible that they hosed out your blige on land prior to moving it into the water? I hose mine out all the time on a rack on land. I can get it as dry as a bone down there and as soon as shes in the water, another 1/8" of water will come out from under fuel tank area and I need to dry it out again. But I am only talking about a 6' long section down the middle approx 4-5" wide, so it is only about a gallon or two. Your boat is bigger. It might me able to "hide" more.

One other thing. They had to either use the "single point drain" systems or remove the blue plugs to drain your cooling systems when they winterized your engines. The water dumps into the bilge. Do you know if they actually removed the water after they did this? They may have just dumped it and left it.
