I'm looking to replce the warn out motor to my 2004 Lofrans 500W windlass that came with my 280 DA. For whatever reason it seems that no one sells just the electric motor...

I have been told that the motor that they use is a starter motor from a truck made in europe.
take it to a motor rewind shop and have them re wind it.

Did you contact IMTRA (imtra.com), the US distributor of Lofrans? They can sell you a motor. They can also help you diagnose the problem and confirm it is the motor before you layout a lot money, time and effort.
