Want to buy rear bench seat for 1996 270 Sundancer

Hoplite... just a suggestion... do the "sunpad" thing on the foredeck instead of in the cockpit. Either have some portable pads made (say, three pieces, that fold up) or use a pool/floating cushion... those roll up and, of course, can be used in the water, too.

Problem with the foredeck is the two hatches in the center. I don’t want people on top of that glass. Could easily get people on either side but unless the pad was secured to the deck I’d be constantly having to chase the cushions as they try to float away when the wind blows them overboard.

Watch yourself LD or MonacoMike might insult you for trying to offer a helpful suggestion. And don’t dare have a boat older than his.

Who did the insulting with a braggadocio post in another thread telling someone that actually has owned the boat model being asked about by the OP he is wrong? I have owned a great 85 Sea Ray for years, it is an amazing boat, I never would demean a vessel based on age, but I also would not offer a guy advice on a model specific issues based on a different model and era built.

You never would have made it here back when I started with such thin skin…

I’m looking for the rear seat bottom for my 1996 270 Sundancer. Really any condition as long as the frame under the cushion is fine. I don’t mind reupholstering it or building replacement legs for it either.

So I have a 97 270. It is indeed a fiberglass frame with a pad that snaps to it and fold out stainless legs. The back edge of the frame rests in that piece of starboard you mentioned. I can get you whatever pictures and measurements you would like. The only issue is I'm out of town for work until the end of the month so it will be a few weeks.

That would be awesome If you could get me a few photos and some measurements. I think I can duplicate something similar out of wood and either fiberglass it or just paint it white to weatherproof it. It doesn't look like I'll find an OEM replacement one.

I ran out to the boat yesterday and snapped some pics of the rear seat for you. Let me know if you would like anything else.

I suppose this could be fabricated from wood but it would be heavy awkward. The molded back nestles in a track on the stern wall while the front lip holds the table for sun pad use. There is a lot engineered into this seat base beside seat.

@Nginear what it the width of the back side that secured it to the transom.

@MonacoMike I’m thinking of building a lattice to keep the weight down either out of white oak and paint it white or teak and oil it if I can afford the teak. Then a piece of aluminum angle stock for it to hold in the channel on the aft side and adding an extra piece of wood to the front to make the lip for the table to become a sunpad.

Sorry for the wait. Here are measurements of the wall mount and then the width of the rear section.
