I’m looking for the rear seat bottom for my 1996 270 Sundancer. Really any condition as long as the frame under the cushion is fine. I don’t mind reupholstering it or building replacement legs for it either.

I would think shipping to HI. would be cost prohibitive, even if you could find one.

Everything is cost prohibitive to ship to HI plus 4-6 weeks away, but it doesn't change the fact that mine is missing and I'd like to replace it.

I like to think of the quote from O Brother Where Art Thou that we are a geographical oddity.

Maybe a dumb question, but does that part the arrow points to flip up and is the seat? It looks recessed and like it would swing forward.

Yes that’s the seat base I’m looking for. Found a stock photo on the internet and put an arrow on it to show what I’m looking for.

I don't recall there really being any "frame" - just a plywood seat bottom. From what I remember, the tricky thing is getting the correct sized piano hinge - it also needs to be a double piano hinge. And then mounting it in the spot on the seat base and the boat. I imagine you already have the holes in the boat and maybe a small ledge that the seat sets down onto? With a crudely (cheap and quick) made copy of the seat, it might not be too hard.

I think I also recall that the seat base is a few inches deeper than the cushion. Meaning, there's a "tongue" that sticks up behind the backrest bolster to keep it stored.

@Lazy Daze Yeah I’m missing it entirely so I can only guess what shape it’s supposed to be. There is a starboard material like piece on the transom that appears to have a notch in it for what I assume is a tongue on the back of the seat to rest in. There are two holes in it which are in the right place for a pair of barrel bolt latches to hold it down once inserted. No sign of any sort of hinge mechanism ever being a part of that. Then the table has a short leg and a cushion that when used turn the table and benches into a sunpad so I’d assume there is some sort of lip on the front edge of the seat for the table to be supported on in this position. I’d prefer to get one ready to go because less work and it will be an original piece but if worse comes to worse I will have to fabricate it myself.

Mine flips with the cushion out, not in. What’s different besides size? That pic looks like mine.
His is a fiberglass base, no reason he can’t fabricate a marine plywood base.
Some makes bow covers out of it.

What the hell does an old 91 have to do with a with the OP’s 96? Have you owned that model? Yes you can cobble together whatever you want but that was not what the OP asked about.

If you don't find a base maybe this pic will help. You can see the location of legs and that lip on the front edge. Looks like something easy enough to make if you have to.

While this may not be the answer you are hoping for it may be something to consider. Back when I had my 260DA (which had the folding rear seat similar to yours) I found that many times I needed additional storage. So on trips many times we never used the seat and left it folded up and instead used two cooler next to each other as the seats giving us storage for foods and other items below.

While this may not be perfect you could certainly get or have nice cushions made for the cooler tops to act as the seats.

With Woody's picture, that's slightly different than what I had in mind. The "folded up" position in post #1 looks just like what I expecting/familiar with, but the fiberglass base is different. My comment about the double piano hinge may or may not be accurate, then.

In photos of the 94-97 270da and 98-99 270da se online I have seen the model you describe but never saw it in a parts list for my 270.

That's what I do on my 280DA. There isn't enough room with the seat down for coolers and boarding from the side otherwise.

@Woody Thanks I had not been able to find a photo showing those details. That really does help for if I have to fabricate something on my own.

@KevinC I thought about the cooler idea but that won’t let me set it up with the table as a sunpad. It needs the support on the table edge to the rear bench lip for that to work.
