I got a new HDD Sony Cancorder for Christmas. I have heard the Sony software is not very good and there are better programs out there, I was wondering if anyone has found a program they really like. Please keep in mind I'm not a video/photography professional. Just looking for something user friendly and of good quality. Thanks.

I use Pinnacle studio also. No complaints.

I just upgraded to Pinnacle Studio 12. I bought a new puter too, so I'm looking forward to messing around with it.

mac or pc?

If mac, dont even think twice, iMovie blows anything away. For those wanting a bit more, Final Cut Pro.

My cousin in the movie industry uses this, as do many studios now. FCP is amazing.

No disputing that Mac is better, but the challenge is be able to edit AVCHD videos. I found this in the ILife 09 system requirements:
  • AVCHD video requires a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor or better. Visit iMovie ’09 Camcorder Support for details on digital video device and format support.
So it meets the criteria! :smt038.. provided your hardware is up to spec.

Pinacle Studio 12 will also process AVCHD videos. But don't try it without a powerful PC and plenty of memory.
