This should be in my signature but I will repost it anyway. I have a Sundancer 340 2003.5. 8.1 Mercruiser's Inboard. It has a vesselview system that has been installed at some point since so it is not the original. It's also not the new version 4 or 7. Basically the problem is that there was a lightning strike on a sailboat next to me in the marina. Either through a shore power surge or the EMF from the lightning it caused multiple blown fuses on the batteries. I have since replaced all the fuses and it seems that everything is functioning fine from that end. So the Vesselview system since that time has not functioned correctly. It occasionally receives and displays data from the starboard engine but never from the port engine. It powers up and appears to function as far as the menu's and moving through different screens.

I have checked all connections starting from the vesselview and going back to each engine and pulling apart the wiring harness and reseating each one. SO like I said 1 minute I get data from the starboard engine and then the next it's gone. Never do I get data from the port engine.

I guess my thought is the lightning has caused the vesselview to malfunction but I don't want to make that assumption until I have exhausted other possibilities.

Also since the version of vesselview I have does not appear to be made anymore...Does anyone know if the new versions vesselview 4 or 7 will work on a 2003 Mercruiser 8.1? That's assuming I need to replace it.

Thanks for any help on this..

Sorry I can't help you. I have the same vesselview as you and my speedometer doesn't work and the fuel gauges won't go above 5/8 full. I've gone through the factory reset and calibrations / no luck. Maybe we can find someone with some useful information out there.
