Hey Guys - just moved to upstate Ny (Syracuse area). Anyone have any recommendations for Marinas on Onedia Lake? We are looking for something on the West end of the lake.

Although I currently keep my boat in Alexandria Bay, I used to be at Fremac Marina, in Lakeport, on the South shore of Oneida Lake--easily the best docks in the area(well protected, composite material, and floating). If the west end is more important to you, the folks at Ess-Kay Yards were real nice and have a very convenient location in Brewerton. Good luck in your search--Cheers! Phil

What do you guys look for when looking for a marina?

Good question--First, I need to like and trust the dockmaster, and have confidence that they are looking after my boat--even when we're not there! Next in line are marina amenities, location, and cost--everyone's priorities differ on these, but they make a difference on how you use your boat. At Fremac, we were pretty isolated, so we cooked alot on the boat. In Alex Bay, we're a short walk to many eating options, so we tend to either eat out or get take out and eat back on the boat. Both enjoyable, just different. Again, good luck with your search. Cheers! Phil
