Update on the insurance claim when my boat got creamed by house boat

Steve, be happy the phone ended up at the funeral home and not you. You have definitely been run through the ringer lately....

Latest update, the surgeon came in this morning to get a look at his handy work on my foot as well as remove the two drains that he put in my foot in case he missed some infection. He wasn't thrilled with what he was seeing. It appears that it is filling back up with fluids around the toes again. He has decided to do another surgery today around 5-6pm and clean everything out again. He says this time it should relieve some of the pressure and he has to make sure he gets every bit of the infection out.

We also did get some results back from the CDC today. According to the CDC, I have MERSA. A form of infection that is usually transmitted from a spider or an insect. MERSA does not respond to typical antibiotics. It is also very contagious and dangerous. The way I found most of this out was when my wife came by and she watched them put up a infectious decease sign on my door and everyone was putting on all kinds of masks and scrubs on. It pretty much scared the **** out of my wife.

Damn,

Steve, when you get through this go out and play the lottery. You have to have a stroke of good luck eventually!

You're in my prayers!

Infectious deceased sign would scare the crap out of me too. Did she think you were dead? Just busting your balls. Hope things go well and you can get back to normal again. (although I'm not sure what your "normal" really is

Wow Steve, you have a great way of handling stress... I hope that you keep your sence of hummer through this trial.... I will be praying of your healthy recovery and many mores hours on your boat...

Today's adventures included another wonderful day in the hospital tagged with I.V's and drain lines. Just another day in paradise. I met with the infectious specialist, the surgeon and a bunch of other nurses and doctors. They have decided that because of the severity of my infection they want me to have an I.V for three more weeks. They want to stick a I.V port in my arm and three times a day I hook myself up to the bags of super antibiotics and let her run directly into the vein. Needless to say...I am not a big fan of that idea. I prefer an oral antibiotic that doesn't have to be poured into my veins, they are going to be checking on the possibility of going my route.

Did have a couple of good things happen. First and foremost I got a new set of wheels today. I have posted a few pictures of the new ride just for you guys, e other good thing is that I found out that I may get to go home tomorrow. That would be great....well enjoy the pictures of my new ride.

Take the IV.

MRSA is not an infection you want to fool with unless you consider amputation something you want to go through next.

And nice wheels. They have a diesel model?

Do the Pic Line Steve. It's not that bad and far more effective than oral without the digestive tract side effects.

I hate to say it but you look like you have just been taken advantage of by the diesel mechanic. I hope you get better soon and start enjoying that boat.

Stick with the IV it's better and a direct shot to the system

Steve, I have been through some nasty infections when I was dealing with large jungle cats. I had a few bites etc. I once was in a similar situation to yours and did not want the iv route or to stay in hospital to cut a long story short I very nearly lost an arm because of it all. Do not mess around with this kind of thing, take the iv it's a pain but retaining all your limbs is worth the hassle!! Oral antibiotics will not do the job with an infection like this! You would not only be taking the chance on losing your foot but maybe even your life!
Nice wheels!! How many HP :)
