Ugly Four Winns

WTF! ICK! I knew I should have went to school for marine design, apparently it doesn't take much skill or talent.:smt009

That's bad! Two 5.7's:huh: That has to be a gas drinking dog!

They have very little deadrise, which reduces wetted surface. They don't ride as well, but they can go okay with smaller (cheaper) engines.

Carver is a price boat, like Meridian.

Then you have this Chaparral which looks great from the side, but from the bow its trying to become a 70's tri hull!

And lets not forget its "innovative" blow up mattress that makes the dinette into a berth lol

I'm all for changing the basic lines that most boats have today but thats going too far.
And so much for boarding on the port side.

Shows how much I know. I thought Carver was supposed to be a good boat:huh::huh:

Clearly, Four Winns has adopted the Sea Ray method of naming their boat models. It's no longer the actual length of the hull, but from the tip of the anchor to end of the swim platform.

I'm guessing that fugly-assed boat is closer to being a 26 footer.
That's what I'm thinking as well. That 30 footer is including a 4' swimplatform. But it does have a "roomy" V-berth.

YaHoooooo!

I've finally found something to hate more than Sea Ray's designs over the last couple years.
x2. I'm sure glad I got the earlier 280, I hate the looks of the new 280:smt009

Well I would like mine even better if I can get her out of the shop:smt089 About to make the third payment and only had her in my possession for two weeks and two days:smt013

Is that inflatable thinghy for real? Dam, Now I have to go check out the Chapparral website to see if your joking.

I am not knocking Carver because I think they are good boats, but I have always thought the Mariner was the ugliest boat ever produced (there is an older Mariner a few docks down from me....ugly....it's momma probably doesn't even love it).

I would venture to say the Carver Mariner has been the most successful production boat ever. They have been making since the 80's. The lines have always been equally ugly and similar. The layout is actually quite useful. The only day I would be seen on one is during halloween with a mask on lol But they sure do sell a lot of them.

I agree, there's a ton of them up here too. for some reason it reminds me of a retirement apt in FL.

Back in '05, we bought a new Four Winns 348 Vista (currently called a V375). It was beautiful and very nicely laid out. Was MUCH better than the '05 340 DA which was one of the other boats we considered. We got endless compliments on the 348 right up until the day we sold it to a guy moving up from a 330DA.

That said, the new 305V Four Winns is horrifying. Looks like they took the hardtop and windshield off a 38 footer and glued it on a 28 footer. Kind of like a toddler with a big head waiting for his body to grow...

You are correct. However the Mariner is god awful ugly, the people who buy them are more focused on the interior rather than the exterior styling. They found a market and filled it.

The people who say that a Carver is a price point boat probably have never been on one. My next boat will be a Carver or a Sea Ray, if you look at year for year at least in the 90's see which interior looks better on the Sea Ray or the Carver. I walk into Meridians that are new and still think the fit and finish inside and outside of my 1994 Carver is better.

And yes, I have owned 2 Carvers and 2 Sea Rays, I guess its a toss up for whats next!?
