I did not want a big TV that looked like it just did not belong. I wanted something that looks like it belongs there.

Before.....

The result was everything I hoped it would be.

After...

The TV can be retracted or pulled out, just like the factory TV. The TV is actually wider than the hole. To pull the TV out or put it back we slightly swivel the TV to one side first then it goes thru just barely.

The mount swivels. I got the swivel mount at Best Buy, the TV via the internet. The digital LCD TV/DVD player runs off of 12V DC or 120V AC. Sold thru Target for $179.99. The swivel stand is sold thru Best Buy for $59.99.

Pres, I must say...when you do it, you do it right! Looks good.

Looks good. Nice clean installation.

Presentation - do you have any pictures of the tv retracted in the opening? I've been wanting to do the same thing but haven't been satisified with how things look when they are put away.

Pres,
That looks excellent, nice job!!
BTW, Welcome to the millenium my friend!!

The third photo is the TV retracted.

If I post the photos in high resolution then people need to scroll to read the thread.

Here is a link to the same photo in high resolution:

If you are using Microsoft Explorer as your web browser, press “Ctrl” with one finger then at the same time press “+” with another finger. You will zoom in. Then pan around to see what you want to see.

Hi Henry,

I did not do that. I hadn’t thought about that.

The TV does have an audio out so I guess I could.

Is the audio out an RCA type set-up or is it the headphone jack? My TV only has the headphone output and I am concerned about the sound quality if I tie it to my head unit.

I am not at the boat right now. The specs say "Output Type(s): Audio, Headphone Jack"

Great work. I like the presentation in that you did make it look like it belonged, not just hung. GREAT JOB!

Thanks for the picture! My wife has been on me to "cut" the opening to fit a different TV. I'm a woodworker but I REALLY didn't want to risk that type of work. I definitely prefer this route as it still maintains a clean look.

Henry, for the audio do you have to run cables through the cabin to the stereo or is there RCA cables already in place where the TV is installed?

Thanks!

For what it’s worth, the TV is plenty loud for us.

Actually, I do see using the headphone jack. Not to connect it to the stereo, but to connect it to headphones. This way I can watch the news when the kids are sleeping.

I do have a headphone set with an extra long cable.

I was able to get 12 over the air digital channels. Not bad considering we are not in a big city area.

You're pushing me more and more towards this set up.

BTW, your assistance and information about the seawater impellers were spot on. I'm considering hiring a band of double jointed midgets though to assist in future impeller changes! Thank you.

Did you remove the cockpit table holder? I found that really helped.

I am 245 lbs and stand anywhere 6'1" and 6'6", depending on which convenience store I'm leaving.

Ever take a crap so big that your pants fit better? Well, take one of those before the job.

If I can fit, you can too.

The previous owner removed the holder so I didn't have that to contend with. I'm 6'4" and about 185+ depending on what dark beer of choice I've had that day! Regardless that was one tight fit....
