Can anyone tell me the true draft measurements of my 1996 270 Dancer with single 7.4. My manual says 43" with drive down but web site says 36" with drive down. 43" seems awful deep to me but who can help me?. Thanks. I will measure in the fall after haul out but with the low water levels here in Canada I need a figure.

With my drive all the way down I turn up mud when I am in 3 ft of water. I try not to go in below 3.5 to 4 feet without trimming the unit up. Prop repair or replacing can get costly.

A single draws more than twins with the engine sitting lower in the boat. 43" sounds about right for a single big block.

I'd jump in the water and measure it while it's still summer out. Then you'll know for sure.

Low water levels? We're up 13" vs a year ago...
