I have to pull both engines on my 89 amberjack. The Marina will hoist them out and put them on a trailer. Does anyone have ideas about a cradle for the engines while transporting them?.
Thanks
B.Matt
If its temporary and a short distance we just used old tires. Preferably truck tires with larger & stiffer side walls. The sump part of the oil pan goes on the middle of the tire. I you are looking for something a little more permanent or secure, look here:
I replaced my 5.7 with long blocks. I just made a simple pallet using a some 4x4 and 2x4 blocks and lag screws for the mounting holes. Screwed pallet to wood floor intrailer and then strapped down engines with ratchet straps. Worked fine for the 15 miles I had to go.
I too used a few 2x4's & 4x4's lag screwed together with the engines also lagged into the vertical 4x4's.
This would work fine as long as they are ratchet strapped down nice and tight. I would probably add a cross brace to the 4x4's for road travel.
No road travel for me but I had to climb some steep and rough terain to the garage - no problems.
Engines are being pulled tomorrow(wed). Will use pallet with 2x4 and 4x4 on trailer. Getting them off the trailer when I get home will be the next trick.
Thanks for all the replies
