How many freedoms do you think that we need to give up before people start waking up? Is it gonna take police breaking down your door in the middle of the night because your neighbor said he thinks that your a seedy character?

I have to go through extra security every time that I fly because I had a hip replaced. But now the TSA wants to grope my groin. It was bad enough last time I flew that some gorilla patted me down, but, this latest crap is the end. For all I care, they can ground all of the airplanes, I will not put up with this.

Oh boy, this is going to be a multi page thread!! And by the way, I agree with both of the initial posts. I just fear that the "horse is out of the barn" and he aint coming back. I fear for where society and the world is heading. Now where did I put those bomb shelter plans......

Well, at least we don't have guys wandering the terminal with Uzi's like they do in Europe.

Well, if you don't like the rules, then use another means of transportation.

Now, before everyone gets all high and mighty and gets their panties in a big ole wad, I have flown three out of the past five weeks on business related travel. I did not like a minute of the whole airport experience. However, I elected to fly instead of drive and these days flying carries a new set of rules. The whole "checking for explosives" thing is now a way of life, so man-up and get used to it.

Checking for explosives means get in the machine where they can see how wee your winkie is or it means that some guy is going to make sure you don't have contraband where the sun don't shine.

If you do not like those rules, use some other means to get where you want to go. I am pretty happy with the fact that TSA is looking at everything they can in order for me not to be blown out of the sky on a business trip or vacation.

Mr. Tyner knew the rules before he went to the airport as evidenced by his checking in advance to see what kind of security measures were in place. Sounds like the joke is on him because the security he thought he was avoiding was, in fact, in place to protect us all.

The Tyner's of the world need to get a life or stay the hell home.

Great. The mindset of "if you have nothing to hide then just forfeit your rights".

It's that type of thinking that has empowered the government to continually strip away at our civil rights and freedoms all under the guise of "security".

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. -- Benjamin Franklin, 1775

Anyone know how many terrorists we have caught since 9/11 when these measures to protect us went into effect?

We have on average 2 million citizens flying every day X 365 days X 9 years= 6 billion 5 million 70 thousand passengers...

ZERO terrorists caught using the "old" technology of metal detectors and back of the hand body checks...

TSA has no right touching your junk. That will become evident shortly. Those of you wanting to give up your rights, good for you.

Imagine if I was a TSA and my child refused to go through the xray and I get to feel up my own child... I'd be thrown in jail in a nano second. But its AOK for some TSA employee who I don't know from adam can feel that child up...

That is so wrong. Screw the pat downs. I'll fly out of an airport without the xray...

A little junk squeeze now - and, how about a little cavity check later - for your four year old precious little girl!

There is an easy fix... Just do it like Disney. You know how when you go into a 3D attraction they have a big box full of 3D glasses? You take a pair on the way in, drop them in a different box on the way out...

As each passenger boards the aircraft, they are asked if they wish to be part of in flight security. Those that say "yes" are asked to take a single shot pistol containing one of those special bullets that won't penetrate the hull of the aircraft out of a barrel before they board. If anyone gets out of line during the flight, 120 people have a bead on them from every possible angle. Each person has only one shot, so no one person would be able to go "postal". When you get off of the plane, you toss the pistol in the barrel at the top of the jetway. Problem solved.

If you want a gun free solution, we need to do an in depth, highly sophisticated study full of complex statistical analysis, based on weighted samples using geographic, cultural, and religious criteria to determine the tendancies of the indiginous homo sapiens in the sample associated with the behavior in question.

    I'll attempt to simplify:

Religion vs # of aircraft blown up (or smashed into buildings)
    Catholic - 0
    Buddhist - 0
    Islam - 100s (possibly more)
    Jehovah Witness - 0
    Jewish - 0
    Mormon - 0
    Protestant - 0
    Seventh Day Adventist - 0

So as you can see from the raw data, reaching a conclusion can be extremely difficult without proper analysis and interpretation by a highly skilled team of national security and human behavior experts.

Give me a freaking break. Start registering muslins, put them all on the no fly list, and make them take the bus... together... :smt021

This thread is so funny. On so many levels.

You all realize that this has been building for the last 10 years, right?

You want real outrage? Do some research on "No knock warrants".

Oh jeesh... You mean that they might break down my door and find my secret stash of old Playboys? How many years am I gonna get for that? I read the articles, I swear...

The only thing that pisses me off about the no knock warrants is that the damn judges keep letting the suckers off after they get arrested.

Bottom line is that I have to hope that they are doing some research before wasting the time and manpower to bust the door of someone like me down. So if it happens to me, my house would get busted up, computers confiscated (rats... there goes the little black book file...), and... well that would pretty much be it. Then I would sue them for coming up blank, retire, and spend more time on the boat. Can I sign up for one? I'll leave the door unlocked and they can save the wear and tear on the battering ram...

In this case, no apology was offered for the shooting of the Mayor's dogs.

At least, the Mayor didn't get a bill for the bullets.

And before anyone starts accusing me of being a pinko drug sympathizing lefty is the simple issue that

    1) There often is inadequate research regarding the WHOSE door is being busted down.

    2) Having your dogs shot by the entry team is *standard procedure*, and nobody will offer you an apology later.

    3) You can sue afterwards . .but you will NOT win the case. It's all very, very legal.

On a different note: Remember that your township can condem and confiscate your house because some developer convinces city council that they can increase tax revenue. If I recall correctly, that went all the way to the Supreme Court.

    - - - - - - -

SO MY POINT IS: Liberty requires constant vigilence. It is good that some people are finally saying "Enough is Enough".

No problem! Just a slow Monday night . . .

Yeah. . .well. . . at least I am not diving into the Ad Homeniem attacks right from the conservative playbook.

I am more of a libertarian than a liberal; but when it viewed from so far from the right; I could see how people get confused. .

Still. . I would buy you a beer anytime!

(For those viewing this later: I added much more to my post after Scott responded. . .)

You want fun? Try flying on El Al with a passport that is only a week old. I had to seriously negotiate to let them take my iPod onboard. I came very close to telling them to stuff it and book on a different airline.

On a different flight with a US airline we had
a passport check by the very serious men after having the ticket collected but before boarding the plane.

Then there was the flight where they put EVERYONE through detailed customs "red lane". 7 agents. 200 passengers. 10 minutes each inspection. Thank goodness I got my bag quick, and got to the head of the line. I only was delayed 30 minutes and fortunately did not have a connection to catch.

Oh. . .and there is at least one European airport I know that uses the full body scanners as well.

Air travel hasn't been fun for a LONG time.
