Tice's Shoal Aquapalooza

I didn't get the email, but then again I didn't register either. I just got one invitation from Marine Max about a month ago that had the wrong date (which is why I didn't sign up)

Tices: It will be on your chart. Straight across the bay from Forked River. Can't miss it. Look for the spot on the Island where 1000 boats are anchored. That would be the average sunny weekend afternoon crowd. Maybe one or two extra boats for this event.

Bottom is sand. Water is 6' deep away from shore. . .shallowing to 2' at the shore. Nothing in particular to worry about. . watch crab pots as usual. But what do I know? I am too scared to go near the place on most weekends. To crowded. Easier to go to the beach by car. Cheaper too

...... Dominic (OSD), maybe you could tell me where the "secret spot" is if you are still going.

Just got in from the BIH get-together. As of now, I am still planning to attend.....I'll be happy to show you the "spot"....but you may have to go through some hazing first... ....let's hope the weather holds...

It would be great to finally meet you. By the way...I dont need to know where the "secret" spot is. I can have my choice of jelly fish anywhere I like. P.S your trip (BIH)was GREAT!! And when you decide to move up...keep me in mind. Brian

Well. . . considering that my boat is currently in the driveway, and the starboard outdrive was taken to the "the shop" this morning. . .I don't think I am going to make it :smt009

This was scheduled downtime (that went not as well as planned) in advance of REALLY needing the boat next weekend.

Tice's Shoal Aquapalozza postponed until next Saturday

I just received a call from Brant Beach MM that due to weather the Aquapaolzza at Tice's is postponed until next Saturday Aug 4th

No kidding
Your not pulling my leg, are you :smt018

(frantically checking weather forcast -> but this almost looks like a standard Summer-day-pop-up-thunderstorm forcast? THOSE WIMPS!)

Better lucky than good?

Anywho. . .just spending the afternoon waxing the hull while the boat is out of the water. The port outdrive looks like it could use a good cleaning followed by paint. The Starboard drive could use it as well. . .except it ain't here :smt089

Maybe time to stop and get on the jetski before the rain comes. . .

and getting the boat in the water by noon tomorrow is not *totally* out of the question. . .

. . .and after I made my last posting -> I went out and broke one of the jetskis :smt021. Repairs are almost complete :smt013

With one boat and one jetski broken . . . tomorrow may be a day to go to the SeaRay dealer to take a look at new boat options!

(although. . .I have a few other watercraft waiting their turn to be broken. . .)

I hope the weather is nice for everyone. Unfortunately because of the change in date we won't be able to make it. So....bring a camera and post lot's of pictures so I can "feel"
like I was there.

I just got this email....

Good afternoon!

Just wanted to remind everyone of our rescheduled Aquapalooza event at Tice’s Shoal tomorrow, 8/4 from noon to 4pm (we encourage everyone to get there early!) The weather calls for a high of 93 degrees!

See you on the water,

Hope to see some of you there tomorrow....

I won't be able to make it,but I just got a $25 gift card to use at any MarineMax. Just there way of saying thanks for making AquaPalooza all it could be.

Not bad being i will not be there.

Thanks Sea Ray!

The admiral called to tell me we got the $25 gift card in the mail also.....now....what is ONLY $25 in a MM store???? I know....the Tax....

Well. . . life is getting in the way for me.

My boat's repairs are complete, but the boat is still on the hard. The boat hauler is not returning my calls . . .which is odd considering that I have not yet paid him for the haul out. . .

I am shooting for a noon launch tomorrow.

I hope my drives are perfect. But the mechanic has been up and down the engine without finding why it has been overheating. The 3 month old impeller looked fine, but hopefully, the new impeller he put in will do the trick.

There sure was a whole lot of Sea Rays out there yesterday. I was sandwiched between a late 90's 370 and a 2006 50DA.

Had my dink out visiting and others were on there dinks visting us.

I got to meet Ron (rondds), Jack (jlavine), Mark (mthor) and a surprise visit from FrankH (ImpulseIII).

At about 5PM we had to pull out, so I untied both sides and backed out of the line. (Just in case you are wondering, yes I confirmed that there were anchors set on both ends of the line before I pulled out....but that would have been one heck of a site if there weren't..... )

Had a great time and got my T-Shirt...

I forgot to bring my camera, but I did see Ron take a few.....

Some pictures from sat. I anchored closer to the walk way. Great day. Got there about 10:00 AM left 8:30 PM One of top 10 days of year. :smt038

There is a saying that a bad day on the water beats a good day at work. After this weekend. . .I am not so sure.

I was hoping for a noon launch, but my hauler did not return my calls on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Should I have been surprised when he didn't show up at noon? At 12:30, I picked up the yellow pages. I actually found someone, and managed to get in the water at 1:15 (WOW!).

After endless futzing about the house, we finally got on the water at 5pm. A bit late, no? I saw the parade of searays heading North up the Bay, and we finally got down to tices at 6pm. A few SeaRays floating around and LOTS of trash in the water. Also, lots of Seaweed.

We then wandered to the Ocean for a brief run. Brief run was cut short by the Starboard engine (the one with the power steering pump) overheating in the middle of the inlet. By middle. . .I mean between the two breakwaters, where the 3-4mph outgoing current meets the 3' breakers rolling in. Gah. Thought I just spent a pile of money to fix that. And you would have thought it would have shown up in the HOUR of solid running before that point. . . :smt021 :smt021 :smt021

On Sunday, with the Starboard Engine behaving a bit better (I was out shooting temps to understand a bit better), the PORT raw water pump came apart. Gah. :smt021 :smt021

My mechanic is recommending an exorcism. The Admiral recommends that the Mechanic to be the target of the exorcisim. :smt100

hi all
sorry but lost track of this thread. anyway, here's the pix i took.

http://www.drlumachi.com/aquapalooza07.html

they are HUGE so if you have dial-up dont even bother. also, you'll have to do a sort of "panoramic" view as i was too lazy to shrink them all down. works great on a 22" LCD.

i dont know who the guy in the raft with the dogs was but it made for a cute pic. ya gotta LOVE the RC beer barge. the underway shot is jlevine (jon).

we made the trip with jon (aka jack if you ask dominic  ) and were joined later on by my buddy rudy and his 2001 maxum 3300 SCR (allowed in b/c of same corporate parent as the rest of us  )

we arrived around 11:30 and split around 3:30 and we all had a real nice time. great weather and nice job by marinemax organizing and giving stuff away (got my tee-shirt - i can now die a happy man  ) the coozies and frisbee were icing on the cake.

doesnt take much to please me!
