Ahoy! Just spent many hours trying to figure out why my port side Mercruiser wouldn't start. Finally figured out that my throttle is a POS. If the port side is not EXACTLY the right place for neutral, engine will not start. I thought we had a bad battery. Does anyone have experience with throttles on these boats? It honestly needs to be replaced but I'm wondering if I can upgrade to a nicer throttle model - maybe something from a newer Sea Ray? Any info. much appreciated.

I am having issue with my 2007 300DA. Right shifter is stiff and the neutral detent is so vague I am never sure if I am in gear until I add some throttle. Left shifter is marginally better. Makes docking more challenging than it should be!

I had the mechanic replace the shift cables, some slight improvement but not a fix.

Is your neutral position with the throttle levers upright? mine are displaced aft significantly from the marked neutral position.

How about if you push the button on the side and push it forward? I've had the same issue as you, but not once since I push in the buttons and pop them forward. I need new throttle cables for sure but this works until the off season when I can replace them.

I know this is an old thread but I have the same boat with the same issue. Were you guys able to resolve it with with new throttles and if so, which ones did you use?
