I booked my launch at Bridgeview Marine in Sarina yesterday - May 6th. But I am wondering now if that is late enough based on the weather. It has been the winter from hell here in SW Ontario - in the lea of Lake Huron. Snow, snow and more snow with winds, storms, freezing rain..........

Last week it actually started to warm up and thaw (with rain of course). I figured we had made it. Then Tuesday night we got anothr storm that dropped 6 more inches of snow. That does not look to be melting any time soon. It was -11C or 12F this morning and tonight is forcast to be -15C (5F). Global warming my a**.
I am going up to try to work on the boat tomorrow but with it being so cold at nights it is a real challenge. Gotta think about boating furher south!

Glen,

Dont sweat it.... It will be plenty warm by may 6th.

Hey Glen that is why we moved to South Carolina. Winters in Clevleand suck. Lake Keowee is a little smaller then Lake Erie (and so is my boat now) but the only month I didn't get out on the lake was January. Even February had some days nice enough to go boating and the weather is just getting nicer. We had a couple of days last week in the 80's and we don't live on the coast but inland in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountians. You need to come on down!

Yea - I know I need to boat where the actual usable boating season is longer than the off -season. My son just got back from a week in SC - on a cycling endurance tarining camp. Came home raving about the warm temperature, scenery and friendly people.

I am trying to send the ice Down from the Bay. Need a strong southwest wind to move it into Lake Huron so it will flow South.

Glen,
I hear you brother!!

Last Thursday, Friday it was sunny here and approached 70 Degrees!!! Yesterday, 34 degrees and about an inch of snow!!! It really gets depressing after a while. I need to move south but my wife, and kids will not agree!:smt089

Our ice went out a week or so ago. Got up this morning and the lake was frozen as far as we could see. It still has some ice but is slowly opening up again.

On Lake Keowee the sun is warm and the water is great. You can get warm air up north but the water always stays cold. I will miss the Lake.:smt089:smt089:smt089

Oh well, Pa/Md here I come.

I feel your pain. Winter just won't end. Had 8" here on Wednesday, and it isn't melting. Brrr. It supposedly will warm up a bit next week. Can't believe I'm anxious for 40 degrees.

CH435 I feel your pain, where are you located? I'm in Stillwater and just dying to get the boat in the water. Heading to Tanners Sports a Crownline dealer for some canvas work this weekend and picking up some supplies in hopes of doing some buiffing and waxing in a couple of weeks. Last year we launced April 15th which is not looking good this year with the flooding.

Got a nice sunburn in about 30 mins today here in Pensacola in 80's all PM. Heading to west FL this week for more sun. I hate PNW winters!

I'm in north Coon Rapids. I was just starting to think it was almost time to take off the tarp when the mother nature purged those thoughts. I'm hoping to buff and was soon too. Just trying to decide what buff/polish/wax to get.

Ya I was watching those river forecasts. Looks like they may not get quite as bad because the cold is slowing the melt.

Greg jones ,dont you mean "political "science. PS: its 13.5 in my yard right now.I am taking the 2655 north to the brokers today ,good thing we had a two day warmup to extract her from the back yard and her winter cover.

Seems the storm started Tuesday night and continued Wednesday as it made it's way to Toronto. For some strange reason it didn't make it to Barrie which is really odd. Snow is mostly gone but the bay just won't open up. Here is what it looks like from our condo.

Yes that is a better way to put it, actually it is probably more like a religion. It is like Dutch Harbor here lately, Deadliest Catch ocean conditions. I look forward to the thicker gas tanks and carbon taxes taking care of the hot weather and saving mother earth from overheating.
