So why with issues like a flag in South Carolina or any other state issue is it not a vote of the people. Instead of some stuff shirt standing on their soap box running their mouth then voting based on their money train and lobbyists.

Because we "the vote of the people" are letting it continue to happen that way, too busy with our working hard ways of life.

Because in most cases the vote of the people would likely have a different outcome than the pulpit preaching point that the stuffed shirt has to say. Although Nikki Haley's stuffed shirt isn't too bad

It's very simple in the USA we elect our officials to do the will of the people till the Supreme Court ruled corporations as people, this isn't the first time in our history the nation has became so polarized it's frozen in time no politician can do anything without fear of losing an election.

I'll pose a question to anyone, disclaimer I dis-like or disagree with the idea of state referendums. In our state we have more referendums to vote than our legislators seem to vote on, they'll pass a bill to send anything controversial to a referendum vote instead of taking a stance & voting for the people.

Why should the people of a state need to vote on referendums that are conceived & written in terms which are very confusing to read yet alone be able to understand what the ramifications might be in the future. Most are written with a short synopsis of the bill with a for & against statement. It's just like listening to Fox or CNN they bring up a topic then have 2 to 4 so called experts arguing over what it will mean for the country when in reality they're just giving their party line views, that's not news it's just he said she said arguing.

Question:
How can you make an informed vote if both sides make statements to sway your vote on a bill without being able to read the full bill or understand the bill as it's written?

The people elected Mr. Obama, not sure if I trust them.

But actually in this instance the flag wasn't put up by the people, it was put up by the legislature. That same legislature also passed legislation saying it could not be removed by executive order or popular vote unless the legislature granted that authority.

Answer: and I quote " But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it"

And amazingly she still lives off of the people's dime!!
