The official pre-clinton era sr sport cruiser thread

JJ
I know where you can get a 4.5kW westerbeke that needs some work. PM me if you're interested. Or better yet, PM a CSR member rknecht.

WOW......this is a long thread! New to us 1990 270DA with some curved glass....sorry about that. We love the cabin in the 9' beam. It's our first cruiser and we're looking forward to doing some trailering trips to other waters around central PA. We're only 90 miles from Watkins Glenn, NY and Raystown Lake, PA. We've been to Seneca on our CV-23 but the water was glass smooth and a 90 degree day. I hear Raystown is beautiful on the weekdays.....weekends are a bit crazy I've heard. We focused on the 1990 & 91 270 due to the cabin changing in 1992.....unless we bought the 290. We may add the swimplatforms option because it really looks well built and will give us more room to hang out. It will add length to the boat and could be a storage issue for us. I'll have to do some measuring. This is a great thread, Mike.

WOW, just to let you know that as a little 20 footer owner, I'm jealous. I keep watering Old Skool to see if she grows into one of your boats. Great pictures and modification too. Better leave now, don't tell any of the other 20 somethings I was here…

Permission to board as well?

Although I do have a curved windshield, and absolutely no teak, it is over 21 years old. Kind of an inbetweener I supose.

Boat has about 950 hours, has always been in freshwater, and under cover. Gelcoat is excellent shape as a result. Originally came from Texas around Dallas, I bought her in 2000 and trucked her back to Kentucky.

Our group of friends have mostly Sea Rays from mid 80's up to new, from 250's to a 540.

I started off with my first Sea Ray, a new 1990 250, then in 1995 purchased a friends '90 280, then in 2000 got my current '90 350. Just love these models, and can afford them.

Great site here, hope I can contribute something. Been a member since 2006 but just recently 'remembered' :)

Man...I don't know....
No teak? What's a boat without teak?

I love that generation 350. I have a 1990 Sport Yacht brochure, and always liked that model. Sea Ray took the previous gen 340, and improved it all the way around.

What year/size model is rafted up to your port side in the photo?

I say Baryshnikov is IN! We can overlook his lack of hardwood and new fangled-fancy-schmancy curved windshield. The era is right so he is welcomed aboard!

I don't know if I have ever seen a 90 350, but looks like they took the 80's style in the lower hull and added the newer stuff topside. It has a newer style cockpit and the angled down rubrail at the back. Very nice looking. Welcome to the club. This thread usually goes dormant for a while and then jumps back in the mix.
All you new guys, you have to share all of your updates and add-ons. Any new tips or ideas are surely welcome. We are a user friendly gang.

Thanks wilee, they are a early version of the Euro style while still keeping some of the traditional designs, less the teak.

My only add real on is the new swimplatform.com which is worth every nickel. Like adding a room addition.

Thanks,
Dean

See Ron....I'm not the only one that feels this way about the platforms. And I bet Dean has never even met Scott Samuelson!

Dean - Can you be a little more specific. I must have screwed up, I tried www.swimplatform.com and got a site for floating docks? I like that extension on your boat and want to check into doing it to my 270.

The new website is NorCalplatforms.com. HAHA!! It's not that the platforms arn't cool and well made. We just like picking on you about it, Shawn!
The correct website has an "s" on the end
www.swimplatforms.com.
For all you new guys, ask Shawn the story behind his swimplatform, he has the original. I guess you will have to do a search for the previous thread, we don't want to get yelled at!
I think they look great, just didn't fit in the budget right now for such an old boat. The shipping is the killer for me. If I was in AZ, I would have one. I'm not sure I would need a boat in the desert though.

oops, missed that for sure. Go look at the pics of the 1990-94 350 and you will see one of WhiteNights with 4 guys on the back. Neither is me.
