Good deal. I was extremely happy with Corinthian's customer service.

I'm sure that it is discussed somewhere on this forum...but I haven't been able to find it. How big of a generator would one need to power the AC unit? It's great to have AC while at the dock...but would be even greater to have it out on the lake. Have seen people in the past with small generators on the swim deck or bow...just wondered what it would take to run the AC?

Thanks,
Scotty

The factory option for mine (a 2006 260) is a Kohler 5 kw. It has been flawless.

Scotty,

I am also looking for a set of carpets. Did you get a good price from Corinthian? Also I know the AC will run with a 2K honda generator.

Thanks
John

John,

I placed an order with Corinthian for Santana carpet with Sunbrella trim...using Todd's template. I was really set on getting the Teak carpet, but was talked out of it. They said to make it so the two big pieces in the cockpit line up correctly, I would need to make a single template for the cockpit. I'm lazy and in a hurry to get it...so I was easily persuaded. I really liked the color of the Teak carpet and Santana was the closest they had to it. I am hoping that the dark color will not heat up too much in the sun...but I really thought the cockpit needed something to make it pop. We will see in 2-3 weeks! The only change I made to Todd's template was that my swimdeck will be one solid piece. I did this because I think aesthetically, it looks better and the carpet will only be on when at the dock...so no ladder access is necessary.

As far as price, I received quotes from snapincarpet.com and Corinthian. SIC came in @ $474 for the three piece cockpit set, but they did not have a template for the swim deck. That was the deciding factor for me...as I wanted the swimdeck carpet (Thanks Todd for the hardwork on that!). Corinthian's price was $611 and change shipped to my door. That was with Sunbrella trim which is a $10 option. As Todd said, Nick is easy to deal with...and was quick to answer all of my questions.

So a 2K Honda will run the air? That was exactly what I was looking at and hoping would do the job. They are really quiet and cost around $950 locally. Have you tried this on your boat or know of others that have? If so...where did they have it?

Thanks,
Scotty

You have hit upon the most contentious issue on this board. Please search and you will find several heated discussions on portable generator use aboard a boat. At the very least this is a VERY dangerous practice and should not be done by anyone that doesn’t fully understand the dangers: people die from the improper use of generators every year. I hope it is not your family. The only reason you have not started a major discussion is you asked just the 260 thread followers. Samples below many others are on here. Near Brookville lake: we have several members from the area. Welcome aboard.

Good Luck,

MM

We have used one on our swim platform pointing out to the back corner and it will run the air conditioner. In saying that we have used it at the lake with only the one anchor out so the wind should be behind us and we have put 2 additional CO detectors on the cabin. This can be a very dangerous practice if you are not careful. I know people who have used PG's for years without problems and a person who isnt around anymore after using one carelessly. Just research before you make any attemps one way or the other.

Yeah, Scotty. I'm glad the carpeting is working out. On the Honda....heed the warnings and read up.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the info. I have read numerous stories online...and now have read the ones MM threw up here for me. I see everyone's points on the topic and I see why it is debatable. I'm not even going to put my reasoning or opinions...as I don't want it to be debated on this thread. I will just say thank you for everyone's input.

I'm excited to see the carpet...I think it will liven things up a bit. Just wish the rain would quit around here so we could start enjoying the lake!

Thanks,
Scotty

In case you missed my post over the weekend. I finished the installation of my new carpet.
The color is Corinthian's mariner blue. It's darker than the Mediterranean Blue Sunbrella canvas.

I want to change the canvas (hopefully next year) to Captain navy dark blue by Sunbrella so I wanted the darkest Navy Corinthian had. This will be OK and I like it a lot, but darker would be good too.
I got the last snaps installed today so everything's done.

Boy, what a difference carpet makes, huh? Looks really nice, Todd!

Yeah. We were out yesterday watching whales. It was finally warm enough too to go in bare feet and the plush carpet is really nice.

Looks great...can't wait to get mine now! Why no pics of the swim deck!? Love the custom table...was that made locally, or is there a manufacturer that makes them?

I made the table, a friend of mine has a laser and did the laser work, and another friend is a professional painter and did the catalyzed "bar pour" clear coat.
Here's the transom carpet.

Got my carpet this week! Seems like it came a lot quicker than it was supposed to...Corinthian said 2-3 weeks...I think it came in more like a week. Now I just need the rain to let up so I can get out and see how it looks in the boat. Looks great here @ home...and it definitely a quality job. Will post some pics as soon as it's laying in the boat!

Wow.....looks great. What kind of backing is on that carpet?

Just wondering about anyone's experiences with adding batteries. I finally had a chance to get out to the boat yesterday...as our marina is flooded and you have to get a lift to your boat. Everything is ok at the boat and hopefully the water goes down in the next week or so and things will be back to normal. Anyways...I was thinking about adding a third battery to the current system. My thought was to hook two of the together...that would leave us a two battery system for overnight stays on the hook...and a single battery to ensure power to start the engine and run systems for the trip back. Has anyone tried this to see the beneift?

Thanks,
Scotty

I have two big batteries and I carry a jumper pack with me for a emergency backup. You could turn the battery switch over to one battery for when you are at anchor and then you have one battery as a back up along with a jumper box just in case. This is what I do and the engine still starts up the next day on the same battery that was used all day/night, even with the fridge on and the TV on for a few hours at night.

There backing is great. It's much different that the original stuff. It's ribbed with strips, of sorts, of their rubber backing. It's more of a latex material.

I just replaced the house side battery with 2- 6V golf cart batteries in series. This should give us a nice long life to run over the weekend. It's only been in two weeks so I haven't tested it out yet. The true test will be Memorial day weekend. 4 days with no shore power.
I don't have pics of that installation because I was too tired to unfold myself and knee(from recent knee surgery) to get back in there with the camera.
