Well we took delivery of the boat on Saturday, its a black 185 sport. It was beuatiful. The boat was waxed, tires armoralled (sp?), the fuel tank was filled, and the salesman even had a cooler with a 12 pack of Yuengling lager on ice waiting for me. The weather was very windy, so we didn't spend too much time on the initial cruise. The depthfinder and the tachometer both didn't work, so I was wondering if this is normal or do they need calibrated or what? Here's a couple of pics.

no, they said that if I can't fix the depthfinder by looking at the manual and adjusting it then to call them and they will get it done. But not sure what if anything I can do to the tachometer. When I was cruising along at about 35-40 mph, the tach was reading 1800rpm. I guess I'll have to get the dealer to look at that too?

they need to come fix them both for you. they should have been working before you got it.

don't let them put it on you - they should get that done, and they know it.

very nice boat, btw. a 185 was my first SR!

Congratulations, and good luck.
The tach and depth will be fixed properly, no doubt.

We are all overlooking the important issue at hand.
How did you find a salesman who'd stock a cooler for you?
Kudo's to him... :smt038

Guess you already know who you'll buy your next boat from when you move up...

I think if I was picking up a new boat and was told what Frag had been told, a twelve pack of lager would not have made me feel better.

I agree with the others that the dealer should fix both problems. But in the meantime, I would try and use the boat a bit because there may be a few other things come up as well that may need fixing. That way, you can take the boat back to the dealer and ask they fix everything at once.

I take it you bought the boat from MM. Be firm and let them know this is not acceptable. Both the Tach and Depth finder should have been non issues. :smt024 It should have been found by their rigging crew. :smt009

Boat looks great. Good luck and enjoy. I'm sure the dealer will address the problem and fix it for you. Like the others said...let them do it.

Great looking boat? How many hours on the boat? 35-40MPH how close to WOT is that. Not sure but, IMHO I don't think I would cruise for long at that speed until you get some hours (At Least 10) on it  Just keep adding items to your punch list. I'm sure they will take care of it. Most dealer really want a good review on the SeaRay delivery survey.

I have the same boat, and my depth finder will go from 180ft to 4 ft all of the sudden sometimes, but usually works fine. The dealor over here is great. They are very eager to fix any problem. I am having trouble starting our boat. We have over 10 hrs on it now, and even after it warms up, I have trouble starting it. Even the service guy said it was hard for them to start, but they claimed it would be fine after it warmed up until we got it broken in. Just ask for it to be fixed, and I am sure they will take care of it for you.

Chuck1,

If he is running the 23" prop the RPM's are close to 3500 or so. I have the same boat except it's an '06 and haven't had any issues with it. I usually cruise at about 3000rpm and the speedo shows 30 and it's about the same on GPS.

If you want to see if the tach is a quick easy fix, check the back of it and make sure it's set for the right number of cylinders. It may be set wrong and an easy fix.

I agree however, however minor, both of those things should be/have been, fixed by the dealer. It's their responsibility.

Nice boat. Congratulations. Really nice looking.

Here's hoping you have hours of fun on it this year. Keep that cooler full, and empty it often. :smt038

Thanks for all the help. I will take the boat back over to the marine max dealer tomorrow or the next day and they said that they would have everything fixed for me.

Nice boat! I did not even think you folks in Florida knew what a “Yuengling” was? I am up here 20 miles from the plant. So hey no worries on the tac and depth finder, my new 230 has a problem with the speedometer both digital and analog. I was excited to get time in so my dealer will get to it when I bring it in. Good Luck!
