The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

Now you’re moving the goal post and talking about subsidies. No I have never taken electricity without asking. I also pay to use this site.

For those of you playing at home notice he didn’t answer the question if he takes electricity from those he doesn’t have permission to and desperately tries to change the subject.

Reread my post again. You even quoted it. It’s the second sentence.

And are you really trying to drum up support from the peanut gallery?

People are getting all whacked out about the 2035 date. Anyone remember this?

In April 2009, President Barack Obama accelerated the increase in the previous administration's CAFE standards. The joint Environmental Protection Agency/NHTSA rule applies to model years 2012 to 2016, requiring a fleet-wide average of 35.5 mpg by 2016. Increasing at an average of 5 percent annually, most passenger cars must achieve 39 mpg, and light trucks 30 mpg, by 2016. Accompanying this announcement was a memo expressing the intent to create emissions standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, as required by the 2007 EISA.

Did that happen? Nope. 2035 will come and go for those still alive and kicking (I guess same for the dead, they just won't know it) with ice vehicles still being produced.

And yes, there will be lots of ev's being built, too. I'm all for ev's becoming mainstream. But, I also like ICE vehicles. Shoot, I just bought a 2023 ZL1. But, when I get around to replacing my F150, I could very well buy a Lightning or some variation of it.

That's my take.... I lose zero sleep over this.

There we gooo…. Someone with a level head!

Car companies aren’t going to stop producing ICE vehicles while there is still demand. They also aren’t going to stop producing EVs because they’re better in many applications.

There won't be a demand for ICE's by 2035 cause a gallon of gas will be $20 by then due to the democratic policies driving fuel costs up, therefore it is in essence, being forced on us. Just like the vax wasn't 'forced' on us, I would have had my career ended if I hadn't went along with it. So while not directly 'forcing' something, they are indirectly 'forcing' things upon us

It’s hard to see that far out on pricing. It could be $20/gallon if demand stays where it is, but if we can reduce demand, then we could also reduce the price.

No …it’s not demand it’s supply and specifically opec. If we became energy independent again the problem of high prices goes away

nor will there be demand in places like CA who are outlawing the sale of ice cars. Add the fact that automakers are announcing conversion plans. Going to be fubar.

How many times have you driven to Alaska?

It's a gorgeous drive, you should make it sometime...

No matter their opinion on it, the fact is the EV truck couldn't complete the trip

Amen...

Couldn’t or didn’t. They aren’t the same thing. Unless it broke the only reason it couldn’t complete the trip is due to poor planning or execution on their part. Did it break down?

and like ttmott said, just buy a diesel truck if towing is life.

It couldn't complete the towing trip that was within the manufacturers advertised range. It had to be pushed to a charging station!

The Fast Lane Truck are one of the better reviewers out there when it comes to pushing full size pickups...

When there is no demand then suppliers close up, thus reducing supply. Right now gas a still easy to get and at least 'affordable' (in relative terms). But close up suppliers (which will happen with current (and I'm sure-future) policies then price will climb. Even if demand wanes if you only have 50 gas stations in a state price will climb. It may come to a point that it isn't feasible to drive to the nearest gas station as there will eventually be so few of them

I bet there ain’t one dam Tesla running in Ft Myers. Tell me I’m wrong.

Did you watch the video? It was not pushed to a charging station. It was also driven outside of specs. They have a towing speed limit and they were exceeding that limit every time they showed the dash.

It’s funny this report. A “number’ of fires, tons of EVs, exploding cars. I see a video of one Car smoking, where’s the exploded car? I also see words from a fire chief that illustrates that he doesn’t know how to handle an EV fire despite claiming that he does. Perhaps you have fallen for more Fox News propaganda?

Here’s a tip. When you see www.foxnews.com/politics… you can rest assured what follows is propaganda.
Typical lib...If you don't agree then it's "propaganda". SMH.

I’m sorry but I never believe a single biased source.
Let’s do a reality check. In the video, you can see them cutting open the front hood. Do you know what’s under the front hood. It’s a 12v battery. And it’s likely the circuit that’s on fire. There are many reports of flooding causing vehicle fires in gas and diesel vehicles.

here’s one: https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida...-almost-catches-fire-officials-heed-warnings/

different flood, but here’s another gas car on fire after a flood: https://www.wthr.com/article/news/n...ters/531-e3c37fba-6ff4-42e5-9ac8-6b6d2164022a

regardless, if a car is flooded, it’s a total loss. And it’s considered a total loss for good reason.
Obvious propaganda.

And in the real world I drive the interstate everyday and all the trucks and trailers adhere to the posted speed limits.....

Yeah, right! Dream on. I saw a pickup and trailer yesterday doing over 80 MPH...

Look, I’m clearly in the camp of if you’re going to tow, then get a diesel. But they pushed the truck outside of spec, used the standard range model and then put it to a test where they stacked the odds against it. You guys are falling for the clickbait.
