The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

I do. The Fast Lane Truck does many truck reviews and they just pointed out exactly what I said, this truck is not ready for prime time...

Maybe they are a bit slanted - hell they had a F150 Lightening that couldn't complete their tow test and had to be towed to a charger...after cutting the length of the test short...
yep. i watched that one

The entity paying the electric bill will necessarily raise slip rents to cover the costs that those charging their EV’s. I have noticed an entitlement attitude from EV owners that they should be able to charge anywhere without worry of cost to the owner of the outlet…
Really, you’re just making this shit up. No EV owner that I know feels entitled to free energy. Maybe introduce me to one of these EV owners that you know who feel entitled to free energy. This is a far right talking point that’s completely fabricated, or based off one or two idiots.

it’s up to the property owner how they want to deal with EV charging if they want to deal with it at all.

Walmart offers free parking for RVs. You pay for that with your purchases. Does that make you hate RV owners?

The further you flat tow it, the more it’ll recharge itself. How’s that for ironic.

Is it? Where are the EV plugs on their drive to Alaska? EVs aren't ready for prime time, especially in rural America. For @jmauld's use sure... but they aren't the be all, end all that many claim them to be...

I've had a few F150s, no way I'd buy the Lightening right now...
How many times have you driven to Alaska?

You realize these anti-EV videos are making them money right. If they make a good review of it, they’ll get a couple thousand views. If they criticize it and show it failing to do something, they’ll get a couple hundred thousand views. You understand this, right?

No matter their opinion on it, the fact is the EV truck couldn't complete the trip

Couldn’t or didn’t. They aren’t the same thing. Unless it broke the only reason it couldn’t complete the trip is due to poor planning or execution on their part. Did it break down?

and like ttmott said, just buy a diesel truck if towing is life.

Deflect much? Yes there are a lot of entitled EV owners out there that think they can have free energy. Had a guy in my Marina thought he had the right to plug in his Tesla until he was reported and told not too. A buddy walked out of his business and noticed a cord, a guy working down the street was plugging in his EV into the outlet that was on my friends sign. Neither of these asked permission to do this and made others have to locate them and tell them to stop.

And the bragging I hear from acquaintances about “free” charges at shopping malls is galling. You saying these folks do not exist?

Oh boy, how will this be explained away?

“A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian.”

“EV batteries that have been waterlogged in the wake of the hurricane are at risk of corrosion, which could lead to unexpected fires, according to Jimmy Patronis, the state's top financial officer and fire marshal.”

"There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start," Patronis tweeted Thursday. "That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale."

I did not complete the trip that was within the specs buyers are told it will complete.

I can see this excuse being used. LOL

Electric vehicles are exploding from water damage.
I can see this as a desired feature. Your EV is parked in your garage as you and your family sleeps in their upstairs bedrooms. Suddenly a pipe burst and water quickly fills the lower level and garage. Fortunately your EV will explode setting off the smoke detectors. At this point you will be awake and can quickly run and shut the water main before any further damage is done. Everybody wins with an EV!

Sure they exist. Just like there are people that will run into McDonald’s and snag a free drink. They aren’t the norm though. Many companies put up L1 and L2 chargers and let EV owners use them for free. Do you know why they do this? It’s cheaper than advertising and it brings in customers. For example a L1 charger can only deliver about $6 of electricity in a day, if it were used at 100% capacity. Meanwhile that charger can bring in multiple customers per day.

Give more details about what they were told.

also ask yourself why did they use a standard range truck for this test, instead of the extended range?

maybe I didn’t watch the same video, because he did finish the trip

It’s funny this report. A “number’ of fires, tons of EVs, exploding cars. I see a video of one Car smoking, where’s the exploded car? I also see words from a fire chief that illustrates that he doesn’t know how to handle an EV fire despite claiming that he does. Perhaps you have fallen for more Fox News propaganda?

Here’s a tip. When you see www.foxnews.com/politics… you can rest assured what follows is propaganda.

What I see, is a biased opinion of a Fox News report. The report quotes various state and local officials that would likely be in a position of knowledge. You seem to dispute that so, what is the data you have that disputes their reporting that also states, it is unclear how many EV vehicles are affected? Seems like it's about as fair as any media source might be.

I’m sorry but I never believe a single biased source.
Let’s do a reality check. In the video, you can see them cutting open the front hood. Do you know what’s under the front hood. It’s a 12v battery. And it’s likely the circuit that’s on fire. There are many reports of flooding causing vehicle fires in gas and diesel vehicles.

here’s one: https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida...-almost-catches-fire-officials-heed-warnings/

different flood, but here’s another gas car on fire after a flood: https://www.wthr.com/article/news/n...ters/531-e3c37fba-6ff4-42e5-9ac8-6b6d2164022a

regardless, if a car is flooded, it’s a total loss. And it’s considered a total loss for good reason.

Denial, denial, denial. Do you take power from those you do not have permission?

A government tax break to businesses is not “free”. It is redistribution of others work and toil. But you, like those I cited see it as free…

Now you’re moving the goal post and talking about subsidies. No I have never taken electricity without asking. I also pay to use this site.

Subsidies for EV chargers are limited to dc fast chargers. The free chargers that you hear about are slow chargers. If you’re going to be so completely biased against a technology, at least try to understand it so you aren’t so easily fooled.
