The Book - Four Suns

Is there a chapter on:
"First Aid, injuries and Lifeflight's response time on the Eastern Seaboard"

No... There is a long chapter called "Things you Hope Don't Happen"

covers that stuff....

That will be a great book!
West Marine has put out a call for new products, maybe you could get them to sell it.

I'm going to compose a radio commercial for the book.

"Gary is a boater, he lives by the sea. He owns a dinghy and takes his dogs for a pee. Come read of his adventures, his kids and his wife. Put on your life vest or he'll stab you with a knife".

:smt043  :smt043  :smt043

Leading Man.......Jerry Lewis?

The name escapes me, but I thought it was Bill C or K. something...Carney. Keer, etc. Hey this could possibly be a good pseudonym for the books author. :smt043:smt043

I will have to chime in like some others, if I purchase one I want it autographed.

Now I have to ask, how many other boat forums did you poll for the book? Broader data sampling, broader audiences, more input, broader sales, perhaps?

What there is other boat forums, say it ain't so:grin:

I'll bet if you poll canbote owners you'd find a few cats.

EDIT: I think I may have just thrown an insult... but don't know if it's toward the canbote owners, or their cats.

Good luck, Gary.

Did you start writing first, then find a publisher, or did you scout the idea around, get approval and start writing? Just curious as to how it evolved.

Commodore,

Certainly hoping that I am worthy of a signed copy as your technical service officer. Good luck Gary and best wishes on it being a big success for you !

I wrote first... I'm self publishing it... There are some good outfits out there and bad ones on the self publishing side from what I've seen so you have to be a little careful there.

I also know editors and graphics people from a previous life so much of the work is done with people I already know (use to do 300+ page technical manuals).

Oh yes... there's a whole manual called "Things You Hope Don't Happen" on the Space Shuttle... I only have a chapter.

I hope you're not using this graphic artist.

No..

I'm using the people that helped me develop this marketing campaign in the late 90's:

Very good, but shouldn't it be... Put on your life vest or he'll stab "HIMSELF" with a knife?. You know... given his track record and all.

I'd like to see you post some notes up on your blog of what it's like to write a book.
How did you gather/catalog material?
What is the process you are using and so on.
Theraputic or Frustrating?

Actually, I was thinking about publishing a coloring book that had pictures of stuff that you can't really color and would just pi$$ kids off: Polar bears, penguins, skunks, zebras... I might not sell any, but it would be funny. :)
