"The Admiral" and other terms of endearment

My wife is referred to as "boat candy" and her job is to sit on the bow and look pretty, which she does very well.

My 7 and 9 year old boys are mates. They are battling each other for the title of first and second mate.

The 7 y/o standing watch while on a 10 hour cruise -

YOU are the Admiral,,,,, and HE is whatever YOU choose to call him at any particular moment. He MAY refer to himself as the captain when talking to others but YOU will always outrank him.

Oh, and by the way,,,, welcome to the forum. I've searched your thread three times now and can't find the pictures you posted???????????

Am I excused now?

"Old Lady" was given to her by a friend of mine. It just stuck. At that time she was still in her 20s so she didn't take much offense.

I sometimes refer to my wife as my Bow B!tch. When I had a friend go to toss a line from the bow, I told him he is a lousy Bow B!tch and could not hold a candle to my wife at that job. She agreed...

LOVE it!

Second Mate's gonna have to peel potatoes after her performance Sat at Girls' Day. Only three of us on boat....was very proud of the smooth 180 I did to dock to the starboard side to position bow-out for post-fueling departure, rather than attempting to back through traffic. Dock hand was approaching and I said, "Throw a rope," to Second Mate. I hear the dock hand mutter in response, "Yeah, that isn't going to help much," and both girls start guffawing. Second Mate hopped out, I came around to help finish tying up and whispered to our third friend, "Did she just throw him the whole bundle?" "Yep."

We definitely won't be asking her to throw the back anchor any time soon!

We always refer to the person in the water helping us to anchor at the sandbar as our "Dock Boy", or "Coxswain". Any one else on board who must handle lines, bumpers, etc. when docking is simply "The Crew".

SloBurn… the person driving the Boat is the Coxswain!! And in the Navy and Coast Guard is usually a Boatswain Mate!! (Bosun' Mate)
