I kid you not.......that's how much Sea Ray shows in the pricing configurator for this option on a 48 Sundancer. Where do they get these prices anyway? :wow: There are other option prices I could comment on as well but I won't. And I realize we don't pay these prices when we actually buy the boats, but I think this is a bit ridiculous. :smt119

Makes the $45K swim platform seem like a deal!! You can't have the lights without the platform. That would be like having Christmas tree lights with no tree!

The base price for a 220 Sundeck ($56K) is about the same as the total of the lighting and swim platform options together on a 48 Dancer. :wow:

It really makes one wonder what kind of "discount" you should shoot for on the larger boats.

Depends on what kind of lights they are using. We sell underwater lights so I can tell you first hand that they are EXPENSIVE. If added aftermarket the bill on a boat like that with nice bright lights could easily be $7500-$9000, so it might not be so out of whack afterall. What is out of whack is what the underwater lights manufacturers are currently charging, lots of room for competition in the uw market.

Not that I would pay this price, but.. good quality, through hull halide metal underwater lights sell for $1,000+ each. Six light plus correct through hull installation, wiring, etc - maybe $10K.

Underwater light are cool.....It's a "want" thing- not a need! Like all those high-margin options, that's what the dealer negotiates down on to make you feel good. Figure to pay 6-8 grand unless you install yourself.

All I know is that the stereos through SeaRay seem to have a markup of 400-600% over *retail*.

I think the whole boat is a "want" thing :smt001 . Lights go right along with the theme. Good underwater lights are way more than $1000/pr. Try more like $2500/pr.
